Tom, to keep the discussion going, thought I would create this thread. Help us understand it's pertinence. Most of us have heard of the Three Angels Messages. Help us with this, that you seem to have some knowledge of or have studied it.

Adventist eschatology is based on the Three Angels Messages of Rev 14. Each of these “messages” are connected with a specific, 19th century time period of religious reform in the US. As the Advent Movement progressed through this historic paradigm, new doctrines were discovered, which were added to their developing views of the last days.
It is important to note that only one “message” could be active at any time, even as a 4th Message would one day eclipse the 3rd, which represents the SDA church.
William Miller is the Father of Adventism, and he is responsible for discovering and developing the 1st Angels Message, which starts this new and modern understanding of eschatology. The 2nd Angels Message progressed rather independently from Miller, and it terminated immediately after the great disappointment of October 22, 1844.
In 1847, the SDA’s claimed to have discovered the 3rd Angels Message, which featured the 7th day Sabbath. More than that, they also taught that the end of the world would not take place under this 3rd Message, as a 4th and final “Message” would be discovered, which would push the Advent Movement forward to fulfill Rev 18, the last great Gospel Reformation in the church.
Rev. 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory.
Rev. 18:2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.
Rev. 18:3 “For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.”

This 4th Adventist message, will look very different from what people expect from the Sunday obsessed SDA's. Under this Gospel based Message, the SDA’s will remove their many errors and myths and become fully Protestant.
Consequently, the last Adventist Message will feature an improved Gospel and a correct view of the Law, as well as a more credible view of how the world will end. It will focus on the future Time of Trouble and the original Judgment of the 1st Angels Message, which is the Second Coming.
The 4th and final Adventist Message will also promote the 7th day Sabbath, as Reformed by Jesus for the Church, in a very non-legalistic manner. This new Sabbath doctrine will stun the entire church, even as the last generation of SDA’s articulates a modern version of eschatology that is logical, biblical, and resonates with the masses.
To reach this "idealized" and final Message is what the Adventist Movement should have been working towards all these years, but they show no such inclination. And now, in the 21st century, they have no functional eschatology, which explains why they are adrift and self-destructing for all to see.
Today, it is obvious that the 3rd Angels Message has terminated in confusion and schism. In spite of all their propaganda and double-talk, the SDA church will die if they do not repent and move forward to embrace their ultimate destiny, which is the 4th Angels Message.
In spite of so many past mistakes and problems, the Adventist Movement does not have to self-destruct or terminate; they can simply repent for their errors and move forward to develop their next message, which has been trying to emerge for generations. So they stand at the crossroads of great opportunity.
It is a big mistake for the Adventist Community to have allowed themselves to become so confused about the Gospel and the Fundamentals of the Advent Movement.
It is great error for them to exile those, (Dr. Ford), who understood both the Gospel and Adventist history correctly, and to then embrace “Pluralism.”
It is great error for them to ignore their duty to repent, as directed by Christ in the true Pre-Advent Judgment, and move forward within the Adventist Apocalyptic.
It is time for all SDA’s, including the TSDA's, and the hierarchy, to stop playing games with the Gospel and the Pioneer record. It is time for the Advent Movement to get serious about the mission and the message of the Three Angels Messages to prepare the church for the Second Coming, and the Time of Trouble that precedes it.
At present the SDA's are trying to promote Old Covenant doctrine, as well as many incorrect, 19th century views. The result is laughable to modern man, even as it is an abomination when viewed by any Protestant theologian. Which is why the SDA's will never make any sense to the world with their present confusion.
Only when the 1st century Gospel is correctly applied to the 21st century, will Adventism make any sense. It is at this juncture that contemporary eschatology becomes clear and convincing. Leading men and women everywhere to embrace the final Gospel Message and prepare for the end of the world.
Such a doctrinal achievement represents the Loud Cry of the 4th Angels Message. This is the point of the Advent Movement and the fulfillment of Rev 18. This is where the Three Angels Message lead and why the SDA Church exists.
The Advent church must REPENT and REFORM before the final Gospel message can be correctly understood and proclaimed. Only those that "zealously repent" will go forward to understand the last Advent Message, the 4th.
It is instructive to note that Ellen White looked forward to the 4th Angels Message, which she claims started to come into focus during the 1888 debates. In fact, she predicted that one day, the SDA church will appear to fall, but then, at the last moment, they repent of their false Gospel, including their great error that claims the IJ is the Pre-Advent Judgment in the 1st Angels Message. This has not yet happened.
Thus the true Pre-Advent Judgment is not the IJ from Dan 8: 14, but the Laodicean Message of Rev 3: 14. This admission and correction will cause a great commotion within the SDA Community, preparing the way for them to move forward to the 4th and final Adventist Message.

This Gospel Reformation in the SDA church causes a great “shaking” as many Adventists repent of their errors under the 3rd Angels Message and move forward to embrace the 4th.

Some had been shaken out, and left by the way. The careless and indifferent who did not join with those who prized victory and salvation enough to agonize, persevere, and plead for it, did not obtain it, and they were left behind in darkness, and their numbers were immediately made up by others taking hold of the truth, and coming into the ranks.

QUESTION: Am I understanding correctly that you are saying the 4th angel's message, (The Loud Cry) has begun and the 3rd angel's message is completed and that current SDA's are wrong to continue the 3rd angel's message?
Am I also understanding you correctly in that the Pioneers knew that only one angle's message would be given at a time, and the 3rd would end before the 4th began?

Answer: The history and theology of the Three Angels Messages is very underappreciated and misunderstood by Adventists. This is ironic, because the SDA’s are the ones who preserved and extended this remarkable eschatological paradigm, which defines and empowers them. To forget their past teaching, is to destroy Adventism, and this is what has taken place.
"Let the truths that are the foundation of our faith be kept before the people. … We are now to understand what the pillars of our faith are, --the truths that have made us as a people what we are, leading us on step by step." Ellen White, Review and Herald, May 25, 1905.
How tragic that the leaders have squandered and repudiated the very theology that defines the Advent Movement, giving it direction, meaning, and purpose. This is why the SDA’s are self-destructing. They have forgotten their history, replacing it with myths and false positions that neither the Pioneers nor the Takoma Park apologists would support.
Ellen White’s famous warning about not forgetting the past history of the Three Angels Messages has been fulfilled. The church has forgotten, and now it is confused and unfocused, understandably fearful for its own survival.
We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history."—Ellen White, LS p. 196.
Today, the only hope for SDA’s is for them to repent and return to the original doctrines that created them. They will never move forward to understand the 4th Angels Message if they can’t view the first Three correctly. At this point, the SDA’s don’t even embrace the 1st Angels Message honestly or correctly, much less the other two. So how can they ever expect to understand the 4th? If the foundation is wrong, so too all that follows.

The importance of the Three Angels Message cannot be overestimated in SDA history or theology. When the Fundamentals of the Adventist Apocalyptic are given their proper place, a very sophisticated, credible, and Gospel based eschatology emerges. Even a new and surprising doctrine of the 7th day Sabbath. But the modern SDA’s do not understand the Three Angels Messages properly, nor their own history. They have bungled this paradigm, which is fatal for them, unless they repent and reform.
The SDA church stands or falls on the Three Angels Messages. If they misunderstand this history and theology, they will become useless to both heaven and earth, which is their present status today. Useless.

Few today have any idea how the Pioneers actually viewed and defined the prophecy of the Three Angels Messages. Which explains why the Advent Movement has broken down, once again, in great confusion and self-destruction. The many false positions taken by the leaders over the years have worked to create a worthless and wrong version of these historic Messages. This must be understood, admitted, and corrected, or the Advent Movement will die.

The first, second, and third angels' messages are all linked together. The evidences of the abiding, ever-living truth of these grand messages, that mean so much to us, that have awakened such intense opposition from the religious world, cannot be extinguished.
Satan is constantly seeking to cast his hellish shadow about these messages, so that the remnant people of God shall not clearly discern their import, their time, and place; but they live, and are to exert their power upon our religious experience while time shall last.

One Message At A Time
To better understand how these “messages” function, certain “rules” must be followed. For example, the Pioneers were clear that only “one message” could be promoted at a time, and that each message was sequential. This is the only way the paradigm can properly function, and it is the only way the founders viewed this point. It is an eschatological imperative as well as a hermeneutical fact.

The second angel's message has also been fulfilled . . . . . . . It is a well-known fact that the burden of the first message was given from 1840 to the first part of 1844.
It is also a fact that the announcement, 'Babylon is fallen,' was made in 1844, and that the burden of that message, which called many thousands from the different churches, closed in the Autumn of 1844.

Ellen White also writes:
“The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed.”
“It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth. By pen and voice we are to sound the proclamation, showing their order, and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angel's message.”
“There cannot be a third without the first and second. These messages we are to give to the world in publications, in discourses, showing in the line of prophetic history the things that have been and the things that will be.” 2SM 104.3
Let all understand that there can only be one active, prophetic message at a time. When the first stops, the second can begin. When the second terminates, the third appeared in due time. When the 3rd terminates, the 4th will emerge. This is the correct rule of duration and sequence that governs the Adventist Apocalyptic.
The SDA’s = The THIRD Angels Message.
The Pioneers viewed themselves as the “Third” Angels Message, even thought they often spoke of the “Three Angels Messages”, which included the two earlier Millerite Messages.
They also viewed a future time when the “Loud Cry” of the Third Angels Messages would close the work. This became known as the 4th Angels Message of Rev 18.
So there was always this forward and sequential progression, even as they all understood that only one Message could be operative at any given time. Because the SDA’s preserved the first two Millerite Messages, including their fundamental doctrines and history, they would often refer to themselves, correctly, as those that saved, defended, and proclaimed the Three Angels Messages.
But such language does not mean that multiple “messages” can ever be proclaimed or featured. No Adventist ever taught such an incorrect or impossible view, and no one today should ever think that more than one “message” can be operational at any given time.
Only ONE prophetic “message” can be functional at any given time. This rule must be carefully followed by anyone that wants to understand correct Adventist eschatology.
The SDA’s claim to be the fulfillment of the 3rd Angels Message, even though the primary doctrines and history of the first two Millerite messages were also part of their theology. Thus they would often refer to themselves, correctly, as the Third Angels Message, even as they proclaimed both the history and doctrines from all Three Angels Messages.
To better understand this point, note that the 2nd Angels Message “followed” the 1st, and that the 3rd “followed” the 2nd. This wording meant that when a message terminated, another FOLLOWED. This is what all the Pioneers clearly said and correctly taught, but few today have any idea of such important details.
Rev. 14:6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people;
Rev. 14:7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.”

The SDA’s were very clear about how to define and understand these three messages, which they called a “firm platform” of truth. However, if one breaks the rules, and changes these historic messages, chaos and schism will result, and the Advent Movement will suffer. This is what has taken place over the years, and now the modern SDA’s are collapsing because of their confusion and repudiation of the Three Angels Messages.

According to the Pioneers, the PREACHING by Miller, about the Second Coming as the Day of Judgment, represented the “fulfillment” of the 1st Angels Message. It was not the actual 2nd Coming as many wrongly assume.
Moreover, the only Judgment “pillar” within the Three Angels Messages is also the 2nd Coming. Rev 14:7 was never defined by the 19th century SDA’s as the Investigative Judgment, even though the modern leaders have strongly insisted otherwise, and even split the church at Glacier View over this point. But the facts are clear; the IJ is not a pillar from Historic Adventism as many have incorrectly taught.
It is fatal error for the SDA’s to cling to the IJ and to pretend that the outcome of Glacier View was correct. There is no such pillar within the Adventist Apocalyptic, which error is destroying the Advent Movement.
Dr. Ford has correctly stated that the IJ has no place in the Three Angels Messages. The IJ was never, never, never, declared to be a pillar by Miller or any of the SDA Pioneers, including Ellen White.
In addition, once a “message” is closed, it cannot ever be changed or revised.
But yet, the modern SDA’s did exactly what they were warned never to do; they changed the past messages and inserted their own views and doctrines into them. This is why the SDA’s are now so confused and disoriented. They have not been honest with their history and they have broken the rules.
Each Message Stands alone
The 1st Angels Message can be dated from 1818, when Miller first discovered this prophetic paradigm of Rev 14, until it was terminated in the spring of 1844. Which was the outside date for the predicated Day of Judgment. When the 2nd Coming failed to take place as predicted, the movement started to self-destruct and thus this first “message” terminated.
Following the first disappointment, the Advent Movement recovered and took on a life of its own. It moved forward in the summer of 1844 and became organized, even recalibrating Miller’s time calculations against his protests. Thus the date of October 22, 1844 was not from Miller, but from others, even though this date forever became linked with Miller’s great disappointment that shattered the Advent movement.
The 2nd Angels Message represents the Adventists maturing enough to leave their churches and assemble together. During this time, they stood up to their religious leaders; even defying Miller, and thus a populist phase of Adventism emerged, until another disappointment would terminate this message.
The 2nd Message started after the spring of 1844, when Millers time period for the 2nd Coming expired. It reached a fever pitch as the new date approached, lasting until Oct 22, 1844.
The next day, October 23, was the termination of the 2nd Angels Message. It would take about 3 years before the 3rd Angels Message would be discovered and articulated by Bates and James Whites in 1847.
So there is a definitive pattern developing. As error is discovered in each message, it causes not only the termination of that message, but also the search for a solution, which found, becomes the catalyst for the next message. In other words, the discovery of error, and its correction, is what moves the Advent body forward to the next message.
(This is actually good news for the modern SDA’s, because they have legions of error. Which places them in the perfect position for repentance, correction, and the subsequent forward progress to the next message, which is the 4th Angels Message.)
By Oct 23, 1844, the Advent Movement was in chaos and humiliation. The Second Message had closed in great disappointment, worse then the first message. Christ had not come, which proved that they had embraced doctrinal error.
But guess what? Every Advent Message ends in disappointment, error, and confusion. The next message, the 3rd, will be no exception. In fact, it should be clear that the 3rd Angels Message has already terminated in great error and schism, regardless if some do not understand the details. Let’s see when this took place.
3rd Angels Message Terminated
Today, in retrospect, it is easy to see when each “message” historically terminated and why. This also includes the late 19th century collapse of the 3rd Angels Message in Battle Creek, which the church has taken great pains to cover up and keep hidden.
This Battle Creek schism was so devastating that it almost destroyed the SDA Denomination, and thus the Adventist Apocalyptic came close to being eliminated at that time. But the leaders managed a successful retreat to Takoma Park, where the 20th century version of the 3rd Angels Message would make a surprising comeback.
However, as this survival process took place, the leaders dishonestly broke the rules and changed the history and theology of the Three Angels Messages. They suppressed Ellen White’s writings and manipulated her to support false views of Adventist history and theology that to this day have not been corrected.
Not only did this Takoma Park version of the 3rd Angels Message feature the “schoolmaster” Sabbath of the 1888 debates, it also proclaimed Uriah Smith’s doctrine of the IJ as a pillar from Historic Adventism. Thus a false Gospel and false Judgment replaced Miller’s Protestant view of both. This dishonest revision of both history and doctrine, led to the debacle of Glacier View.
Today the leaders rarely refer to the Three Angels Messages anymore, much less to the 3rd Angels Message as “present truth.” The SDA leaders no longer care about the Three Angels Messages or the 4th one that is to follow. They have gone generic.
Unlike the first two messages, which were date based, the 3rd was never associated with a date, but rather, with an event, like the National Sunday law, which never materialized. This makes it more difficult to determine the exact expiration date. But lets try anyway.
While it is tempting to say that Glacier View, in 1980, is the place where the 3rd Angels Message terminated, this would not be correct.
Why? Because the church was still trying to promote the Third Angels Message after this date, and in fact, this is the reason why Dr. Ford’s view of SDA theology was rejected. The leaders incorrectly thought his dismissive position about the IJ was harmful to the historic teachings of the Three Angels Messages. So regardless of their correctness, some in the church were still trying to promote a working version of the 3rd Angels Message.
So there is no clear termination of the 3rd Angels Message at this time, even though a great schism was starting that would shortly lead to the demise of the Third Angels Messages just before the turn of the century.
After a decade or so of post Glacier View debate, mostly from the Conservatives, the hierarchal leaders became intolerant of their legalistic views. Having already dismissed Dr. Ford’s view of Adventist eschatology, they would now tell the Conservatives to stand down and stop promoting their views of the Three Angels Messages, or be separated from the Denomination. They separated.
In the early 1990's the NAD wrote a book called:
Issues: The SDA Church and Certain Private Ministries.
This large work was a direct attack against Collin Standish, Ron Spears, and others. It demanded that they stop promoting their IJ based theology that had been responsible for exiling Dr. Ford in 1980. And that they fall in line with the church’s plan to go generic and grow.
The modern SDA’s were trying to “chart a new course” and try to move away from all debate, as well as away from any concrete views of eschatology. This new position was called “Pluralism.” It promotes a general view of Adventism that was unknown to the Pioneers and would never be approved by them or the Takoma Park apologists.
This generic brand of Adventism, which has been invented by the hierarchical minded leaders after Glacier View, features church growth, not the eschatological fulfillment of prophecy. Which is ironic, because the SDA’s have not been able to grow after 1980. (Nor will they ever grow unless they repent and return to the genuine version of the Three Angels Messages.)
Today, the SDA’s no longer have a specific or united view of eschatology, nor do their leaders even pretend to be trying to understand or develop the 4th Angels Message of Rev 18. Thus the Adventist church today has become like all other in Laodicea; full of error and doctrinal double talk, no longer promoting any specific prophetic message, much less the Gospel. Thus the 3rd Angels Message has terminated for all to see.
When Pluralism started, the Third Angels Message officially terminated. Here is the end of Adventism, at least until the next message is formulated and launched.
So I say again; the 3rd Angels Message terminated during the decade of the 1990’s, when the Conservative view of the Three Angels Messages, would also become marginalized by the leaders, just like those of the exiled and evangelical minded, Dr. Ford. Now there would only be a generic, middle of the road, version of Adventism for the 21st century.
Pluralism = the Termination of the 3rd Angels Message
Just before the turn of the 21st century, the leaders decided that neither Dr. Ford’s controversial views, nor those from Traditional Adventism, would prevail. Instead, they wanted a middle of the road, generic, non-confrontational, theology that would allow the church to grow and become rich.
To achieve this goal, they invented a policy called “Pluralism.” This is a new SDA position that would greatly shock the Pioneers. Here is the termination point of official the 3rd Angels Message.
Although the church still pretends that it has something to say, it is all a big waste of time, as they have nothing worthwhile or correct to say about Gospel prophecy. They don’t even claim to know how to define truth anymore.
Which explains why there is no united, clear, or credible message about the Sabbath or the Second Coming. It explains why the SDA church is so cold, useless, and wrong. The Three Angels Messages have been repudiated and the Spirit is gone. So too the mission and the message.
Today, there is no longer an active, prophetic “message” within the SDA church. The Third Angels Message has terminated in chaos, debate, and disappointment. Just like all the previous messages.
This means that the SDA’s are standing in the dangerous and exciting position between the terminated 3rd Angels Message and the yet to be formed 4th Angels Message.
Until the SDA’s come to their senses and repent for their mistreatment and repudiation of the Three Angels Messages, they will never go forward to understand the 4th and final message.
This is why they must repent for Glacier View, because this is the place where they repudiated the genuine version of the Three Angels Messages. Dr. Ford was 100% correct; the IJ was never a pillar in the 1st Angels Message, and Ellen White never said otherwise. He understood how to correctly define the Adventist Apocalyptic, but the leaders were clueless, and so they still are.
Today, the SDA’s no longer understand the Adventist Apocalyptic, nor the Gospel, which is the foundation for the Three Angels Messages, including the 4th Angels Message. They stubbornly refuse to admit their many errors, much less that they need to find more truth and move forward to the next message.
The history and theology of the Three Angels Messages are very misunderstood by SDA’s. They have not only changed the pillars and taught all manner of myth and error about this critical and historic paradigm; they have denied the core theology that upholds the Advent Movement.
They have also repudiated Ellen White, who has made it very clear that these historic messages can never be changed or revised, much less ignored and denied.

The proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages has been located by the word of Inspiration. Not a peg or pin is to be removed. No human authority has any more right to change the location of these messages than to substitute the New Testament for the Old. The Old Testament is the gospel in figures and symbols. The New Testament is the substance. One is as essential as the other.
The Old Testament presents lessons from the lips of Christ, and these lessons have not lost their force in any particular.
The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth.
By pen and voice we are to sound the proclamation, showing their order, and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angel's message. There cannot be a third without the first and second. These messages we are to give to the world in publications, in discourses, showing in the line of prophetic history the things that have been, and the things that will be.

In other words, Millers 1st Message must not be changed under any circumstances. This is what the Pioneers all taught:
"In like manner those who have had no experience in the first and second angels' messages must receive them from others who had an experience and followed down through the messages."
"As Jesus was rejected, so I saw that these messages have been rejected. And as the disciples declared that there is salvation in no other name under heaven, given among men, so also should the servants of God faithfully and fearlessly warn those who embrace but a part of the truths connected with the third message, that they must gladly receive all the messages as God has given them, or have no part in the matter."

But the TSDA's, led by Arthur White, have ignored and repudiated Ellen White’s view of the fundamentals. They have changed what should never have been changed, even as they pretend innocence. Woe is the SDA church for what they have done. They are reaping what they have sown.

It is not Dr. Ford or Tom Norris who are confused about the Three Angels Messages; rather it is the White Estate, the Review, Goldstein, and all the SDA leaders. Those that claim the IJ to be the Judgment pillar in the 1st Angels message do not understand the history or eschatology of the Advent Movement, nor how the Adventist Apocalyptic functions.
If the SDA’s do not soon repent and move forward to the “new light” of the 4th Angels Message, they are doomed.
Here is Ellen White on the 4th Angels Message:
"Thus the substance of the second angel's message is again given to the world by that other angel who lightens the earth with his glory. These messages all blend in one, to come before the people in the closing days of this earth's history.
All the world will be tested, and all that have been in the darkness of error in regard to the Sabbath of the fourth commandment will understand the last message of mercy that is to be given to men."

The proper development of the 4th Angels Message should be the highest priority of the SDA church. Nothing is more important for the Advent Movement. This is the key to their revival and progress.

The prophecies in the eighteenth of Revelation will soon be fulfilled. During the proclamation of the third angel's message, "another angel" is to "come down from heaven, having great power," and the earth is to be "lighted with his glory."
The Spirit of the Lord will so graciously bless consecrated human instrumentalities that men, women, and children will open their lips in praise and thanksgiving, filling the earth with the knowledge of God, and with his unsurpassed glory, as the waters cover the sea.

I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven, descending to the earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Unless those who can help in the work are aroused to a sense of their duty, THEY WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE WORK OF GOD WHEN THE LOUD CRY OF THE THIRD ANGEL SHALL BE HEARD. When light goes forth to lighten the earth, instead of coming up to the help of the Lord, they will want to bind about His work to meet their narrow ideas.
Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of things, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning. There will be those among us who will always want to control the work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins the third angel in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands.

Today, the 3rd Angels Message is no longer united, correct, or functional. Which means that the Adventists no longer have an active, official, or prophetic, message. To solve this problem, the Advent people must repent of their many errors and correctly embrace their historic fundamentals, then they must move forward to develop and promote the 4th Angels Message of Rev 18. Here is where all the pillars from the Three Angels Messages come together in one last message. Here is where correct Gospel doctrine and eschatology come together to shock the church and warn the world about the great tribulation that is so near.
The 4th Angels Message is the primary point of the Adventist Apocalyptic. It is the reason why the Advent Movement exists; to proclaim the final Gospel message and prepare the church for the Second Coming and the end of the world.
Ellen White predicts that the Advent Movement will, at the last minute, make the successful transition to the 4th Angels Message. Why? Because they will come to understand, as they self-destruct, that the Laodicean Message IS the Pre-Advent Judgment, and thus they will repent of the IJ, and many other errors. This is what causes the “shaking” in the SDA church, which paves the way for the 4th and final Advent Message of Rev 18.
Today, the SDA Community stands at a crossroad. Will they continue to follow their dishonest leaders down a road of double-talk and false doctrine? Or will they wake up and repent for Glacier View, determining to move forward and develop the final Gospel Message, which is the reason why they exist?
It is time for the Advent Movement to once again become a populist and prophetic enterprise that places the search for truth above everything else.
It is time for those that honestly want to follow Christ in the last days, to repent and move forward to fulfill Rev 18.

The Advent Movement features a number of distinct phases. There is the Millerite period, which represents the 1st Angels Message.
Rev. 14:6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people;
Rev. 14:7 and he said with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.”
Then there is another, short phase, which corresponds to the 2nd Angels Message. During this phase, the date of October 22, 1844 was projected for the 2nd Coming, which caused great disappointment when Christ did not return to earth as predicted.
Rev. 14:8 And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who has made all the nations drink of the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
After the disappointment of 1844, a third phase of Adventism developed. It was the Seventh-day Adventist denomination. They claimed to be the fulfillment of this third phase of prophecy, as well as the defenders of the fundamental doctrines from the previous phases. This is the longest of all three Advent phases or “messages.

To better understand the long history of the SDA church, one must distinguish between the 19th century SDA’s of Battle Creek fame, and the 20th century SDA’s that moved from Battle Creek, Michigan to Takoma Park, Maryland at the turn of the century.
The Battle Creek SDA’s are different, in a number of ways, from the Takoma Park SDA’s, and these distinctions need to be understood.
For example, the Battle Creek SDA’s never viewed Ellen White as having doctrinal authority. In fact, they would never quote Ellen White from the pulpit or use her writings in the Sabbath School lessons.
However, the Takoma Park SDA’s, led by Arthur White, and the White Estate, took the opposite view, promoting Ellen White as if she had doctrinal authority and wrote scripture. They flooded the modern church with Ellen White’s writings, even as they were suppressing her real views about many things and hiding thousands of documents in their special vault.

Ellen White would never approve of what the Takoma Park SDA’s have done. They have been very reckless and dishonest about Ellen White, and this is one of the primary reasons why the SDA’s are self-destructing today.
We could cite many other differences between the 19th and 20th century SDA’s, but this point should suffice.
The Next Phase
Adventists also teach that a 4th and final phase must also take place within the church. This phase, or “message,” has not been developed as yet, but it is getting close.
Rev. 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory.
Today, we can better understand what this final phase of Adventism will look like. Which means it is only a matter of time before another paradigm shift takes place within Adventism.
The Advent Movement in the 21st century is about to move from the failing 3rd phase to the next and final one. This is the point and purpose of Adventist Reform as promoted by Dr. Desmond Ford and Tom Norris. This is what all SDA’s should seek to promote.

I was reading some particular points on this website about what you believe in the 4th angel message.
I believe in all the angels messages, the 4th angel really is a wrap of all 3 in great power which is what will be the last sound warning to the world not only churches.
I'm an Adventist by meaning not by name, I do not belong to the SDA. I have many reasons to believe SDA has rejected the light of the messages. This does not mean to me that there are no sincere people and leaders in SDA. But if the leadership as whole rejected it, it is a problem.
It amazes me how lightly the SDA put Wagoner and Jones on the shelf, and brought a few statements later that they believed the message but yet their actions have not been of that.
Have you ever looked into those messages, how it first came in 1888 then in the 1950's was revived but the church did not really accept it? Finally have you ever heard of Fred T Wright Message. He used to be an Australian teacher in the SDA that greatly fought against the rejection of the message of Wagoner and Jones and eventually they kicked him out because he did not agree with the churches stand on this. There were several points to these arguments. One being the praying and repenting of the forefathers sins. Also SDA seems to have gone away from the truth in righteousness by faith.
I'm very interested because of some comments of yours seem to be very against what SDA is doing now....

Today, most all are very confused about Adventist history and doctrine, none more so than the SDA’s themselves. Both the theology and history associated with the Three Angels Messages, including 1844 and 1888, are purposefully misunderstood and manipulated by the modern Denomination. Truth no longer matters.
Thus the Adventists have become their own worst enemy as their search for Gospel truth has long ago been replaced with myth, dishonest tradition, and a Creed that is enforced with unrelenting, mind numbing, corporate control. False doctrine, Money, and Control are the driving forces within the modern SDA church. Such a triad is fatal.
This explains why over 10 million baptized members have left the SDA Denomination during the past 50 years. However, the actual number of those rejecting SDA theology and practice is much higher.
Let all understand that the modern, SDA church, has self-destructed right in front of our eyes over the past 40 years. It is only a matter of time before there is a total and complete collapse of the 3rd Angels Message, for the second time, the first collapse being in Battle Creek.
In fact, had the Battle Creek SDA’s not self-destructed at the end of the 19th century, they would have never relocated to Takoma Park, where they tried to make some corrections, and to continue the mission of the 3rd Angels Message.
The point here is to understand there is a pattern to how the Three Angels Messages operates; failure pushes the church forward to the next improved level of theological understanding. Thus failure has a purpose, even as error plays a major role in the ongoing paradigm of the Three Angels Messages.
Third Angels Message Terminated
Today, there should be no doubt that the 3rd Angels Message, which is a synonymous term for Traditional SDA theology, has crashed and burned for all to see. The SDA’s no longer have a united or credible doctrine about the Gospel, the Sabbath, or the end of the world. The Adventists are mired in great confusion and schism, close to a complete meltdown.
The historic, 3rd message, which started in 1847, is no longer “present truth.” What made sense two centuries ago, is no longer fully understood, much less credible or functional in the 21st century. What is taught by the Denomination today about SDA theology and history is full of myth, error, and double-talk, which is why their useless theology is in ruins today, mocked by most all.
Modern Adventism has been reduced to a confused wasteland of double-talk, confusion, and schism for all to see. Without Gospel Reform, the Advent Movement will die.
What is the answer to this crisis? What can be done to save the Advent Movement?
The answer is simple. The Adventist Community must repent for the errors of the failed 3rd Angels Message and move forward to the Fourth Angels Message, which is the final theological paradigm for the church.
Three Angels Messages & the 4th
The Three Angels Messages, as a historic, prophetic paradigm, has been badly misunderstood by the modern SDA’s. This eschatological paradigm, which is also called the Adventist Apocalyptic, includes the 4th Angels Message, which, according to the Pioneers, is the final culmination of the Three A’s.
This is the reason why the 1888 history is so fascinating for SDA’s, not because there was theological debate, but because Ellen White associated this Gospel debate with the beginning of the 4th Angels Message. Waggoner and Jones controversial theology about the Two Covenants and the law in Galatians was paradigm shifting. Thus, 1888 marks the arrival of this final message, or at least some components of what would become the next message, the 4th. Too bad the leaders hid this debate from the church, preventing the 4th Angels Message from being understood by the Takoma Park Adventists.
Adventist eschatology teaches that the final Loud Cry of the Gospel, along with the Tribulation, and the 2nd Coming, ALL take place under the 4th Angels Message, not the 3rd. Which means -- the 3rd Angels Message must cease, so the next message can take center stage. And this is exactly what has taken place with the demise of Adventism following Glacier View.
Today, there is no hope that the 3rd Angels Message can be repaired, salvaged, or made to function correctly. Its’ time has past. The Advent Movement must go forward to the Gospel based, 4th Angels Message. The sooner the better for the church.
However, without a clear and correct understanding of the Three Angels Messages, there is no possibility that the 4th and last level of Adventist theology can be correctly comprehended. Consequently, the history of Adventism must first be untangled and de-mythologized before trying to move forward to understand this final theological level that has been the ultimate goal of Adventist theology since the early days.
Here are some points to understand about the Three Angels Messages:
1.) Each Message Represents A Time Period
Each of the Three Angels Messages, including the 4th, represents time periods, as well as some key doctrine. No two “messages” can be active at the same time, and in fact, one must fail before the next level can be discovered and embraced.
William Miller discovered the 1st Angels Message in 1818. This “message” ended in the Spring of 1844, which was Miller's initial time period predicted for the 2nd Coming and the end of the world. When that eschatology failed, the Adventists made corrections and went forward to the 2nd Angels Message. That is when the date of October 22, 1844 replaced the earlier position associated with the 1st Angels Message.
2.) No IJ in the 1st Angels Message;
While the modern SDA’s claim to follow their Pioneers, including Ellen White, they are just pretending. The modern SDA’s have long ago made up their own false version of Historic Adventism, including teaching this error that the “hour of his judgment has come” is a reference to the IJ. Unless this fundamental error is corrected, the Three Angels Messages, which includes the 4th, cannot be comprehended.

This prophetic “message” about the 2nd Coming was foundational for the Advent Movement. It featured not only the Protestant Gospel, but also the Second Coming as the Day of Judgment and the end of the world. The IJ was unknown during the entire period of both the 1st and 2nd Angels Messages. And when it was developed, under the 3rd Angels Message in 1857, the Pioneers never placed it back into the 1st Angels Message. It was never a “pillar” in Rev 14, much less a foundational doctrine as many incorrectly claim.
This unauthorized change to Adventist eschatology was made by the Takoma Park apologists who indoctrinated all SDA’s into believing the IJ was located in the 1st Angels Message, when that was never true. The sad outcome of Glacier View turned this myth into present truth for the modern SDA’s, and as a result, MILLIONS walked out the door.
The majority of SDA’s today correctly reject the IJ, and the Old Covenant legalism that is associated with such a doctrine. This point will never change.
Let all understand that this official view about the IJ being part of the 1st Angels Message was an outright fabrication; a repudiation of the facts in order to defend false doctrine. And to this day, the Denomination refuses to be honest about the historical development of the Advent Movement or the Protestant Gospel. The SDA’s today are committed to defending historical fraud and false doctrine. Which is why MILLIONS have left and so too many more when they also find out that the SDA’s are being very, very dishonest.
Neither William Miller, Ellen White nor Uriah Smith ever taught that the IJ is located in the 1st Angels Message. No one in 19th century Adventism ever made such a foolish blunder. While the Pioneers were not free from error, this is not one that they made, even though the modern leaders teach otherwise.
All 19th century SDA’s understood that there is only one Judgment Pillar in the Three Angels Messages, and they were unanimous that Rev 14: 7 is all about the Judgment Day of the 2nd Advent. (Hence the name Adventists!)
The IJ is a false doctrine that must be repudiated by all SDA’s. It was never a “pillar” in the 1st Angels Message, as the White Estate and the Review have claimed, much less one that displaces the 2nd Coming, and promotes crass legalism. Nor can the IJ ever be associated with the 4th Angels Message. There is no place for the IJ in Adventist Eschatology because it is false, anti-Gospel doctrine.
The IJ is not a “pillar” whatsoever, much less one that is based in Rev 14: 7. Until this great, anti-Gospel, anti-Adventist, IJ error is confessed, and Glacier View reversed, the Adventists will never be able to understand the Gospel or the Three Angels Messages correctly, much less the 4th, which is the point of all three.
3.) No Sunday Laws
Adventists today fail to comprehend, not only the correct definition of the 1st Angels Message, but also the 4th Angels Message, which they teach is about the Sunday laws and obedience to the Sabbath Law of the 4th Commandment. But both of these points are wrong.
The Time of Trouble has nothing to do with Sunday laws, which means the SDA’s need to update and reform their eschatology.

Return To Original Interpretation of Rev 14: 7
At this point, the modern SDA’s have repudiated and changed the foundational message for the Three A’s by inserting myth and error into Adventist history and theology. The leaders have even gone so far as to claim that Ellen White teaches the IJ is located in Rev 14: 7 when she NEVER took such a position at any time in her life, and neither did James White or any 19th century SDA.
I repeat: No one in Battle Creek ever claimed what is now taught today about the IJ. Contrary to what took place at Glacier View, the IJ is not located in Rev 14: 7, or anywhere else in the Bible. Anyone that thinks otherwise does not understand the history of the Advent Movement or the definition of the 1st Angels Message. Nor do they understand the other Messages, much less the Gospel.
Adventist history must be correctly and honestly understood if there is going to be forward eschatological progress to the 4th Angels Message. In other words, the IJ must be repudiated so that the doctrine of the 2nd Coming, which is the Day of Judgment, can once again become a featured part of the final Gospel Message that is to be proclaimed as a Loud Cry just before the Tribulation and 2nd Advent.
4th Angels Message
The SDA’s refer to this future period in Rev 18 as the 4th Angels Message. This Gospel based, judgment driven, message will prepare the honest of heart for the great Tribulation and the Judgment Day. It will include only correct Gospel doctrines and credible eschatology.

Rev 18 is where the focus of the Advent Movement must migrate. The 3rd Angels Message from Rev 14 is past, and now the time of the Fourth has come. And yes, it includes all the correct doctrines and pillars that were featured in the previous messages.
Progress Through Failure
The Three Angels Messages, which includes the 4th Angel, operates in a certain, specific way. One principle states that only one “message” can be active at any time. This means that before the next message is located, the previous message must fail. So failure is built into the paradigm, for without it, there could be no forward progress to the next message.
The discovery of doctrinal error, and its subsequent correction, is what moves the church forward within the Adventist Apocalyptic. There could have been no 3rd Angels Message if the 2nd Message, which featured the date for the 2nd Coming on October 22, 1844, had not been wrong. Thus it was failure that forced the early Adventists to find correction and move forward to the next level.
Because both the 1st and 2nd Angels Messages were time sensitive, - when the dates expired, so too did the failed prophetic message. Once the featured date for the 2nd Coming failed, so too did that “message.”
During the early years of the Advent Movement, the Adventists were forced to face the fact, a number of times, that there was serious error with their theology. Such an admission led to correction and the next level. Had the early Adventists refused to admit their errors, there could have been no forward progress to the next level.
Today, the SDA leaders need to admit that the 3rd Angels Message is full of error, myth, and confusion that needs to be addressed and corrected. This is the proper attitude that leads to the next message, which is the 4th. But so far, the modern leaders do not care a hoot about reforming the dying Advent Movement, nor will they repent as directed by the genuine Pre-Advent Judgment in Rev 3: 14.
Repentance Necessary
Perhaps the leaders fail to understand that repentance is the key to forward progress within the Adventist Apocalyptic. This painful and embarrassing collapse (twice) of Adventist theology in 1844 forced a paradigm shift within the Three Angels Messages, which becomes manifest in the next updated, corrected, and reformed messages. Thus the theological errors associated with the 1st Angels Message gives way to corrections made in the 2nd Angels message, and so on with the 3rd Angels Message, of which there are two periods, the first in Battle Creek and another in Takoma Park.
Today, this process continues. The present collapse of the 3rd Angels Message cannot be ignored, as if nothing is wrong. Only by admitting the obvious and telling the truth can the church go forward to the next, much needed level. Thus the present failure of the 3rd Angels Message will lead directly to the discovery and articulation of the 4th Angels Message.
Failure, followed by reform and progress is how Adventist eschatology functions. Adventist Reform understands how this prophetic paradigm works, which is why it articulates, promotes, and represents the genuine 4th Angels Message.
Adventist Reform is the proper path for the self-destructing Adventist Community. It is “Present Truth” for the 21st century.

3rd Angel Terminated in 1980
Let all understand that the Third Angels Message terminated in 1980, at Glacier View. This is when the leaders repudiated the Gospel and the Adventist fundamental about the Second Coming being the Judgment in Rev 14: 7.
This is also the year when the Denomination developed and foisted a false Creed on the church, pushing out those, like Dr. Ford that protested.
Since 1980, - MILLIONS of once loyal SDA’s have realized that the 3rd Angels Message has crashed and burned, - just like all the previous Advent messages. Consequently, MILLIONS have left the church, and more leave all the time because the Third Angels Message, as a credible theological paradigm, has collapsed for all to see.
SDA theology is no longer functional or true, and most everyone knows this fact, except those workers paid to believe. Adventist theology today is Old Covenant, not New Covenant. This is why Adventism has been rejected by its own Community as well as the rest of the world. It is full of false doctrine, even as it arrogantly denies any error.

While many today bemoan the wretched state of the Advent Movement, such a crisis is nothing new or surprising. This pattern of “progress and then failure” is what drives Adventist eschatology forward. Thus the present failure will drive the 21st century Adventist Movement forward to the 4th and last Adventist message. There is no other sane direction for the Movement to go.

1888 Gospel Debate
As for 1888, the 20th century SDA leaders hid the facts about this infamous Gospel Debate, substituting myths and diversions in a dishonest effort to control and mislead the Takoma Park Denomination. Mission accomplished. This fraud resulted in the development of what is called Traditional, 20th century, Adventism, complete with the myth about the IJ being located in Rev 14: 7.

Waggoner and Jones, as well as Ellen White, were true Gospel Reformers; but the Battle Creek leaders refused to admit that the church held any theological errors, much less repent of their Sabbath based legalism. This rejection of Gospel Truth resulted in the meltdown of the Battle Creek Empire and the retreat to Takoma Park, where the very same mistakes were made once again.
Until the truth about what happened in 1888 is made public, and the White Estate repents for their massive cover-up and publishing fraud, the SDA’s will continue to self-destruct for cause.

As for the late Fred T. Wright, he is one of many that were confused by the many errors of Traditional Adventism. He embraced Weilands twisted views about 1888 and promoted perfectionism, not the Gospel, as the point of the 4th Angels Message. He was an enemy of Dr. Ford and the Protestant Gospel. Conclusion:
Today, the Advent Movement is dying because they have ignored and turned away from the Prophetic Fundamentals that originally defined them. Ellen White warned the SDA’s to beware such evil, but like the Jews, they refuse to listen.
If the Adventists want to rise from the dead and go forward with Prophetic meaning and Gospel purpose, they must first repent, and once again become focused on eschatology and the end of the world. They must correct the errors made under the 3rd Angels Message and move forward to develop and proclaim the 4th Angels Message, which is a New Covenant based paradigm, not a law based one like the 3rd. Who knows how much time is left before the End of the World…?

Eschatology is why the Advent Movement came into existence, and why they became famous. If they want to survive, they must return to their noble apocalyptical mission to prepare the last church for the great tribulation, as well as for the Second Coming, which is the great Judgment Day and the end of the world. The End of the world is much closer today than it was in 1844. Our world is wired and set up to explode, like no other time in history.

Today, the Advent Movement is self-destructing in front of our eyes. It has been doing so ever since the debacle of Glacier View in 1980. The crisis continues because the leaders refuse to honestly address the issues or embrace necessary Gospel reform.
So members continue to leave, and those that stay are forced to call for reform, because the present course is not sustainable. It is a dark time for Adventists because they are no longer seen as credible or even honest, and thus the church is unable to grow. Which is why the Review has been closed down and so too most all of the ABC’s book stores. Few are buying the theological confusion that has come to define 21st century Adventism.

What will it take to reawaken a movement within a sizable denomination that has been in a state of dormancy for decades?
There are many conversations currently taking place among Seventh-day Adventists: conversations about women’s ordination, homosexuality, and evolution in our schools, as well as some of the old favorites like the nature of Christ, the nature of sin, standards, music in worship and so on.
But there is one conversation that Adventists are not having: mainly that Adventist theology is becoming less and less credible with every year that passes.
There was a time when Adventists placed a high value on having a rational belief system.
We made every effort to offer sensible answers to legitimate questions put forth by critics.
We believed that if Christianity was true, it should be supported by the weight of evidence.
Today, however, it is becoming harder and harder for a rational person to see the logic of our theological framework.

In order for Adventism to survive and prosper, the real issues and problems must be addressed and resolved. The time for double-talk and diversion is over. Ignoring the mistakes of the past will not make them go away, nor will holding on to myths solve anything.
It is time for serious and dramatic doctrinal reform within the Adventist Community. It is time for a new and improved version of Adventism, one that is New Covenant, not Old Covenant. One that the Pioneers would have embraced and so too the Protestant Reformers.

There is a Gospel version of Adventism waiting to emerge. It will be credible and uniting, re-establishing the Advent brand with eschatological meaning and purpose. Ellen White referred to this time as the 4th Angels Message. This is where the Advent Movement must quickly migrate.

21st Century Eschatology
Today, most all the present beliefs about Gospel Eschatology are outdated and wrong. Regardless which denomination, the various views about the Sabbath and how the world will end are not credible. This includes the SDA narrative that features obedience to the 4th Commandment and persecution from Sunday Laws.
Unfortunately, as the world becomes more angry and dangerous, there is no credible eschatology for the 21st century, for which Adventists should be ashamed. They invented modern eschatology in the early 1800’s, and every denomination has since followed. But something has gone wrong with Adventism. They no longer search for prophetic truth about the end of the world. Rather, they have made the mistake of trying to protect and promote their outdated 19th century views, which make little sense in the 21st century.
Today, the Advent Movement has stalled; it is being prevented from moving forward as envisioned by the Pioneers. The SDA’s no longer focus on contemporary eschatology or Gospel truth, but on defending useless myths from the past. They have fallen into a deep sleep.
Matt. 25:5 “Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep.
The early Advent Movement, (1st Angels Message) represented cutting edge, 19th century, Protestant eschatology, which was eventually adopted by the modern church. William Miller correctly overturned many years of neglect, error, and tradition about the 2nd Coming and how the world would end. Although every denomination and seminary in 1844 refuted Miller’s pre-millennial teaching that the 2nd Coming was the last judgment and the end of the world, this view eventually changed. Miller was correct. Which is why every church today embraces what they once condemned.
Rev. 1:7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
All modern Christians today believe there will be a pre-millennial tribulation just before the literal return of Christ to judge the world. None of Miller’s postmillennial critics are standing today. His core teaching has been vindicated. No denomination or church today teaches that the world is getting better or that Christ will return at the end of the 1,000-year millennium in peace. They all followed Miller and now view the end of the world and the apocalypse as a near term, destructive, literal event.
2Pet. 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Thanks to Miller and the Adventist Movement he started, the modern church, meaning all denominations, has correctly embraced core Adventist eschatology. All of them.
However, with the inevitable demise of post-millennialism, it soon became apparent to the early Adventists that more details were missing about pre-millennial theology. Thus early Adventism split into many factions, each with a different, pre-millennial view about how the world would end. The SDA’s became the largest and most successful group even though they have collapsed a number of times and are now in danger of another schism.
The early SDA’s also understood that Adventist eschatology was not without error and they struggled to find a prophetic path forward to better understand how the world would end. As we all know, they discovered the 3rd Angels Message, which they added to the previous two Millerite messages. This is where the term “Three Angels Messages” derives.
Rev. 14:9 Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand,
Rev. 14:10 he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
The SDA contribution to Miller’s paradigm shifting eschatology was known as the Third Angels Message. This small group of Millerites thought they had discovered the genuine New Covenant Sabbath as well as the Mark of beast, Sunday worship. From what they read in Revelation it seemed that the last day events were focused on loyalty to God and 7th day Sabbath obedience.
For better or worse, the SDA’s developed a unique Sabbath-centric formula about how the world would end. It included the demise of America and its’ Constitution, as well as the enforcement of State laws protecting Sunday Sabbath. This unique view of eschatology ended with a Death Decree aimed at those who refused to submit to the Beast Power. The 2nd Coming would rescue the obedient church and destroy their persecutors.
Such Sabbath-centric eschatology, which became very legalistic, is what built the Battle Creek Empire in the 19th century, and also what destroyed it. The Takoma Park SDA’s also collapsed in the late 20th century as millions of SDA’s rejected the Third Angels Message once again.
Today, the SDA view that Sabbath observance is the secret to surviving the last day events is no longer compelling or theologically rational. Such an Old Covenant emphasis on law keeping does not fit with those that understand the New Covenant. Consequently, an inevitable schism typically results whenever the Gospel is emphasized over law in SDA theology.
There can be no denial that modern Adventism lacks a coherent, credible, prophetic view of how our contemporary world will end. More than that, their emphasis on Old Covenant doctrines, such as tithing, and male superiority underscore why Adventists cannot grow in educated markets, such as North America. What made sense in the 19th century does not in the 21st. We have much more knowledge today about Gospel eschatology and it is foolish to think otherwise.

While Adventists always need to remain mindful of the core pillars from the Three Angels Messages, they must stop embracing 19th century myths and errors, and quickly return to their mission of developing contemporary, credible, Gospel based eschatology-- for the 21st century. History is clear that the Sabbath based eschatology of 3rd Angels Message does not hold up over time. It is full of error. Which is why there has been one schism after another over the years, even as the SDA Denomination is about to split once more. Adventist eschatology is outdated by two centuries.
Moreover, the Sunday versus 7th day debate led the SDA’s into grave legalism, including a false (IJ) judgment, which diverted them away from the Gospel and away from the 2nd Coming as the great Judgment Day. This is why they have nothing credible to say in the 21st century about the end of the world. They lost their focus on Gospel eschatology. They are stuck in the past, meaning the Old Testament and the 19th century.
Let all understand: Adventism is a work in progress. Serious errors that must be corrected at every stage or the paradigm of the 3 A’s will collapse.
Today, there are many obvious theological flaws in the SDA formula that must be corrected or the Movement will die. Denial is not an option. Adventist Reform is necessary because it is the discovery of error, - and its’ correction, that moves the church forward within the Three Angels Messages. This is how the next message is discovered and why it is embraced.
If there were no error in the 1st Angels Message, the Adventists would not have gone forward to discover the next (2nd) message, and so too with the next (3rd) Message. The discovery of error results in correction and forward progress within the Adventist Apocalyptic.
Adventism is a progressive, ecumenical, Protestant movement, developed through a number of distinct phases. This is how the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Angels Messages were developed. (Sabbath reform only became part of Adventist eschatology during the 3rd Message, which started in 1847. Prior to that, the Advent Movement was Sunday based.)
However, after so many years of schism, with millions of SDA’s leaving the church, it would be naïve to assume that the third stage of Adventism contains errorless doctrine or honest history. It is time to face the facts and admit that the 28 Fundamentals are full of myth and error, and so too the Sabbath –centric views about how the world will end.
The Advent Movement needs to better understand the core theology that governs the paradigm of the Three Angels Messages, and go forward with their mission to prepare the church for the end of the world. Now is not the time to become irrelevant or focus on rest. It is time to work.
John 9:4 “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.
Here is the good news. Although modern Adventism is full of confusion and false doctrine, the theology of the 3rd Angel was never meant to be the final Message that would mobilize the church to prepare for the Tribulation. That is good to know, because SDA theology today cannot be defended, much less presumed to be functional. It is broken beyond repair, even as the 3rd Angels Message has expired and TERMINATED. There is no future for this 19th century law based narrative about how the world will end. It is full of error and must give way to a more Gospel based view of last day events.
Today, few Adventists understand that another prophetic message; known as the 4th Angels Message, plays an important role in SDA theology. This final message was predicted to replace the 3rd Angels Message with improved doctrines, completing Sabbath Reform and propelling the Advent Movement forward as shown in Rev 18. This is the point of Adventism.
Rev. 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory.
Such long overdue prophetic progress is the answer for the present Denominational crisis. Adventists must move forward to the next phase of the Three Angels Messages, which is the 4th Angels Message. This has always been the goal of the SDA Pioneers, especially Ellen White. And now it is the only way forward.
If Adventism wants to capitalize on the growing apocalyptical fears that dominate 21st century culture, they need to repent, correct the historic record to better understand the fundamentals of the Three Angels Messages, and go forward to the next prophetic Message. Whatever is correct and true must be kept in the 4th Angels Message, but any and all errors, like the IJ, or Tithe, will not make the transition.
In order to go forward, Adventists must repent for Glacier View and stop trying to defend their many false doctrines, like the IJ. They must now move forward to develop the 4th and final Advent Message, which features credible Gospel doctrine and eschatology, including the genuine New Covenant Sabbath of Christ and the Eucharist, which uses real wine, not grape juice.
It is futile to try and defend the confused, legalistic, and corrupt 3rd Angels Message. This outdated theological narrative is dysfunctional and unsustainable. Both leaders and people must shun such Old Covenant legalism and migrate forward to the 4th Angels Message, which represents New Covenant eschatology for the 21st century.
The process must first start with repentance, followed by focused Gospel Reform, which also includes Sabbath Reform, organizational re-organization, and eschatological updating.
1. Repentance: The last Church, including SDA’s, must understand that they are spiritually blind and corrupt. Adventists, along with all others, have fallen away from the Gospel teachings of Christ. They do not have near as much truth as they claim, nor does any denomination teach a correct version of the New Covenant Sabbath. Including the SDA’s.
Matt. 3:2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Rev. 3:17 ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
Today, there is no defense for so many to be so wrong about so much in the name of Jesus. All Adventists, both leaders and people, must embrace the Laodicean Message, which is the genuine Pre-Advent Judgment of the last church.
Rev. 3:14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:
Rev. 3:15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.
Rev. 3:16 ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
All in Laodicea are called by Christ to zealously repent for their many false doctrines, not pretend they have Gospel truth when they do not. It is time for SDA’s to pay serious attention to the genuine Pre-Advent Judgment of Christ and repent.
Rev. 3:17 ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
Rev. 3:18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Rev. 3:19 ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
The Advent Movement is collapsing, once again because they refuse to repent of the many errors associated with the 3rd Angels Message. Millions have left in anger and regret. It is only a matter of time before there is nothing left but memories. The only solution is to move forward within the Adventist Apocalyptic to the next level, the 4th Angels Message.
2. Gospel Pre-eminent, not Old Covenant Law: All doctrine must comply with the New Covenant teaching of Christ in the Gospels. What Jesus teaches about all things, including the Sabbath or the end of the world is what the church must embrace.
The SDA’s have a very wrong view of the Bible. Contrary to what they teach, the Old Testament is not equal to the New. The NT is far superior. The church is only under the authority of the New Covenant, not the Old.
John 9:39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.”
Today, the modern Adventists are blind to the catastrophic 1888 debate over Galatians and the Two Covenants. This is when the SDA error of blending the law and Gospel together destroyed the Battle Creek Empire. The SDA’s, like the Jews, love Old Covenant Law. Which is why they tithe and embrace Jewish Food Laws and demand obedience to the 4th Commandment by not working on the 7th day. They fail to realize that the New Covenant has replaced the Old Covenant, even as the Law of Christ has made the Law of Moses obsolete.
Heb. 8:13 When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
Gal. 5:4 You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
The SDA’s must stop hiding the great theological debate between Uriah Smith and Ellen White that took place from 1886-1891. This history not only exposes the fatal errors of the 3rd Angels Message, it shows a clear path forward to Gospel Reform and the development of the 4th Angels Message.
3. The Gospel Sabbath: While the SDA’s were correct to expose Sunday worship as false doctrine, they failed to understand that Christ does not teach the 4th Commandment as they assumed. It was Jesus enemies, the Jews that defended and promoted the 4th Commandment. Which Christ broke over and over as he promoted an active and guilt free, 7th day Sabbath for the church.
John 5:16 For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.
John 5:17 But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”
John 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
What Jesus teaches about the Sabbath is what the church must embrace. The legalistic SDA’s must repent for misunderstanding the Sabbath teaching of Christ. Under the 4th Angels Message, the genuine 7th day Gospel Sabbath will emerge; both Sunday keepers and Sabbatarians will be condemned for all to see. All must repent for being so wrong about the Gospel.
4. Eschatology; SDA theology must abandon its’ Sunday law obsession and study the Word to better understand eschatology. The end of the world is not about Sunday versus the 4th Commandment. Jesus does not teach such eschatology. But he does teach about the last days, which no denomination has fully understood as yet, including the SDA’s.
Matt. 24:42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
Matt. 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
Matt. 24:37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.
Matt. 24:38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
Matt. 24:39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
The Adventists are also very wrong to ignore the State of Israel, pretending that it has no place in prophecy. Israel does a play a role in the last days and the sooner this point is understood the better.
1Chr. 17:21 “And what one nation in the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make You a name by great and terrible things, in driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed out of Egypt?
Rom. 11:1 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Rom. 11:11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.
Rom. 11:12 Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!
5. Tribulation Preparation: True Adventism is about the end of the world. Adventists must not only better understand how the final events will unfold, they must also take action to move out of harms way. There will be a massive terror attack on America; the power grid will go dark. Chaos and horror will result. The church is not prepared in the slightest for the tribulation.
Mark 13:19 “For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will.
Mark 13:20 “Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
Rev. 18:19 “And they threw dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her wealth, for in one hour she has been laid waste!’
Rev. 18:21 Then a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will not be found any longer.
Rev. 18:22 “And the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer;

How can Adventists warn others when they are not prepared?

Rev. 18:4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;
Those that understand contemporary eschatology will be alert and ready. It is the work of the Advent Movement to articulate how the world will really end and prepare those that are waiting for the 2nd Coming to survive the Time of Trouble, which will not be about Sunday laws.
Matt. 24:14 “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Matt. 24:15 “Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
Matt. 24:16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
Matt. 24:17 “Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house.
Matt. 24:18 “Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.
Matt. 24:21 “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.
Matt. 24:22 “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
It is time for the Advent Community to wake up and return to their core mission of preparing the church for the great Tribulation and the end of the world. Adventists must repent and move forward to develop a relevant and credible, Gospel based narrative about how the world ends. This is the reason why SDA’s exist. This is their destiny and heritage.
Mark 13:28 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
Mark 13:29 “Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that He is near, right at the door.
Rom. 13:11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.
