Re: In the media: evolution /creation

You are SOOOOOO right about there being no excitement or discovery in the scriptures. No one is allowed to come up with a different thought from EGW's writings on the Bible. The Bible is hard to read for us moderns too.

I don't bother to look up the texts during a sermon because there are so many translations (I'm not knocking the different translations) that it's hard to follow.

I doubt if W.W. Prescott could reach those of us who live in this modern world, Don. We speak a whole different language. We twitter, instant message, google and e-mail. We get right down to the point. We scan rather than reading each word. It's sooo different today. We question, we demand proof, we search out all the details and research up the gazoo.

I often wonder how Christ would handle us 21st century people. Probably a lot different than those he dealt with those who lived all those many years ago.

renie

The Lord needs to come to get it straight.

Re: In the media: evolution /creation

Here is a preacher I find interesting to listen to with fresh ideas:

http://www.pmchurch.tv/article.php?id=25

My wife and I got married in that "cathedral" at my alma mater 36 years ago. I think this preacher is setting some sort of record for staying in one play for a while, with fresh presentation.

more "How the Earth was Made" tv shows on the History channel....

new season of programs starts...
SEASON PREMIERE
NOVEMBER 24 at 9/8c
Home
Videos
About the Show
Upcoming Episodes
How the Earth Was Made

About the Show
The new series HOW THE EARTH WAS MADE travels the globe to reveal the geological processes that have shaped our planet. Each episode will look at a single location and examine how the features that we see today have formed over millions of years—whether by colliding continents, volcanic eruption or the abrasive power of vast ice sheets. These processes, which intimately affect the way we live today, have been lost in the mists of time. Using the clues that were left behind, combined with expert evidence from geologists in the field, this series rolls back the millennia to see how the slow but immensely powerful forces of geology have shaped our world.

http://www.history.com/content/how-the-earth-was-m ade/upcoming-episodes

but the summary episode of the prior years programs replays tonight....

How The Earth Was Made : The Continents, Part 1 Airs on Tuesday November 10 10:00 PM

From a once seething, hellish mass of molten rock to the world that inhabits life today, take a rollercoaster ride through the entire history of Planet Earth. Its 4.5 billion year epic, a story of unimaginable timescales, earth-shattering forces, incredible life forms, radical climates and mass extinctions.

How The Earth Was Made : The Continents, Part 2 Airs on Tuesday November 10 11:00 PM

We continue our look at how the continents were formed, canyons were carved, and why the world's animals live where they do.

Upcoming Episodes

How The Earth Was Made : Great Lakes Airs on Tuesday November 17 11:00 PM

The Great Lakes of North America are the largest expanse of fresh water on the planet. Searching for clues of their formation, our geologists delve deep into an underground salt mine, investigate a fossilized coral reef, climb an Alpine glacier, and dive to the bottom of Lake Superior. They find evidence of an ancient tropical sea, a mighty rift that almost tore the continent in half, and a mile high ice sheet that repeatedly carved its way across North America. And as the lakes settle to their current levels, cascading over Niagara Falls, we find that their evolution is far from over.

How The Earth Was Made : The Deepest Place on Earth Airs on Tuesday November 24 08:00 PM

The Marianas Trench is the deepest place on earth, deeper than Mt. Everest is high. The trench is where the ocean floor disappears into the center of the earth. The pressures at this depth are 17 times greater than what it takes to crush a nuclear submarine. Only two men have ever been down the Trench, fewer than have set foot on the moon. Follow the daring missions into the abyss and explore the extraordinary geology that has created this deep scar along the ocean floor.

How The Earth Was Made : Grand Canyon Airs on Tuesday November 24 09:00 PM

Almost 200 miles long and over a mile deep, this deep scar in the American Southwest is easily visible from space. You could stack five Empire State Buildings one on top of the other--and they still wouldn't reach the lip of the Canyon. As the Pacific grinds into the North American plate, a giant plateau has been pushed up over a mile in the air. Meanwhile, the Colorado River has been draining the Rockies, and with its thick load of sediment, continues to carve this amazing canyon in the rising plateau.

another great repeat:

How The Earth Was Made : Grand Canyon Airs on Wednesday November 25 01:00 AM
and nov 29 at 11 pm

Almost 200 miles long and over a mile deep, this deep scar in the American Southwest is easily visible from space. New NOVA program coming up on PBS:

Episode Detail: What Darwin Never Knew - Nova
A look at the science of evolutionary development, which seeks to answer the questions raised by Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by studying embryo development and gene mutations. The doc travels from Darwin's old research grounds, the Galapagos Islands, to the Arctic, and examines the Cambrian explosion, the era some half-a-billion years ago when major groups of animals first appeared.
