Why is Palin resigning??

<!-quote-!>quote:
... Palin emerged from relative obscurity nearly a year ago when she was tapped as then Republican presidential candidate McCain's running mate.

She was a controversial figure from the start and soon became the butt of talk-show jokes. Comedian Tina Fey famously imitated her elaborate updo and folksy "You betcha!" on "Saturday Night Live."

In Alaska, she saw her popularity wane this year after returning from the presidential campaign. She's become a polarizing figure, and multiple ethics complaints have been filed against her with the state personnel board.

All but two of the 15 complaints have been dismissed with no findings of wrongdoing, although one complaint led to Palin's agreement to reimburse the state about $8,100 for costs associated with trips taken with her children. The state says it has spent nearly $300,000 to investigate the complaints, and Palin says she has racked up more than $500,000 in legal fees fighting them.<!-/quote-!>

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090704/D997IUB00 .html

Now, those last numbers make a lot of sense, eh??

Personally, I think it is a brilliant move given the Democratic deadlock in Washington. Someone, or group better start planning how to change the Demomcratic headlock they have the GOP in, seat by seat in the House and Senate. That may not be Palin's plan, but when Obama decided not to drill to get the country independent of foreign oil, I think she got angry.

Re: Why is Palin resigning??

Bob, you sure could be right. Im' hoping she is putting her family first.

I did hear an interview from one of the talking-heads from Alaska. She said that Sarah may be resigning before she's asked to resign. The ethics committee is still demanding access to her e-mail and she is refusing.

Whatever the reason, how could I vote for her for president and be sure she would stick with the job? If she can't fulfill her present office, what assurance do I have she would fulfill the most difficult job in the world, the office of the president?

renie

Re: Why is Palin resigning??

That's one perspective, but with energy independence as one of her stated goals that Obama is dragging his butt on, maybe Palin has some other ways of accomplishing it at least for Alaska. The family is definitely for her doing whatever she is planning outside the constraints of the Governor's office.

I would wager with the type of money they have recouped from Palin so far for the money expended by them and her, they won't find much more that can't be straightened out by clarifying the rules.

I think she is up to something bigger, that will in time show she is ready for "prime time". IF NOT, then at least her family will see more of her.

Re: Why is Palin resigning??

<!-quote-!>quote:
Here's how Greg Hanson, a keen observer, described Sarah's actions:

"I just read the transcript of her speech, and nothing in there tells me that she's the least bit interested in quitting. She is taking her fight to a completely new level. She is now free to come and go as she pleases, and will undoubtedly be taking advantage of some of the hundreds of invitations she's received. Look for Sarah Palin at a venue near you in the coming weeks and months. I find it interesting that her resignation comes about the same time as SarahPAC's numbers are reported. My hunch is that they will be huge, and will be a very big story both as to the amount raised, and the number of donors, all with very little effort on her part. This is the opening salvo of the 2012 campaign. Start packing 0bama, you're finished."

Additional Comments by Steve in an e-mail to Sarah Supporter Bill LeBlanc:

I said on this blog yesterday that she basically was being "held prisoner" in Alaska, with bogus "ethics violations" being filed against her every time she left the state. Some people in Alaska have an insecurity complex and don't understand that what happens in America has a tremendous impact on Alaska. Ronald Reagan didn't get elected until 1980, but he started having great influence nationally with a speech he gave in 1964. You and I were lucky enough to attend the Oct. event in Beaver, PA, and we saw first-hand the kind of power and honesty in this remarkable woman. Sarah is already the most important political female in American history.

<!-/quote-!>

http://stevemaloneygop.blogspot.com/2009/07/whats-sarah-palin-up-to.html

No one else is targeting Obama, which I think angers and purterbs Palin. Obama has trashed the treasury, and like this angry bear, I think we are about to hear from Palin about this.
