THE LAW IS SPIRITUAL--IT'S NOT ABOUT A DAY

THE KINGDOM IS NOT IN WORD BUT IN POWER 1 Cor. 4:20
The Law is spiritual. Rom. 7:14
And such trust we have through Christ to Godward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new  testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. 2 Cor. 3:4,5,6

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from ‘the law of sin and death‘ (“The letter”, 10 C’s) . Rom. 8:2

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come… (Jesus;”Thy seed which is Christ” Gal. 3:16)

But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterward be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster (10 C’s). For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of yo as have been baptized inti Christ have put on Christ. Gal. 3: 23-27.

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned. From which some having turned aside to vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. But we know that the law is good if a man use it lawfully (correctly, as the schoolmaster to convict the yet unrighteous of sin to turn them to Christ and the Holy Spirit. That’s why Jesus said “…till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law until all be fulfilled” Matt 5:18). Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, (one that has received the Gospel and has come under the sealing of the Holy Spirit and is growing in grace through its power) but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers (kidnappers), for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing which is contrary to sound doctrine. 1Tim 1:5-10.

Now the schoolmaster, the 10 C’s, say in brief:
1.    No other Gods
2.    No idle worship
3.    No taking His name in vain (Don’t claim to be His while deliberately sinning)
4.    Keep the Sabbath
5.    Honor parents
6.    No killing
7.    No adultery
8.    No stealing
9.    No bearing false witness against your neighbor
10.    No coveting

However, in Romans 13:9 the first four are not mentioned, the ones that pertain to God, why?
Because if ye are led of the Spirit ye are not under the law. Gal. 3:18
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1 Cor. 4:16

The Holy Spirit is God and He is in you!

Therefore:
1.    How can you worship other Gods? He’s in you!
2.    How can you worship idols? He’s in you!
3.    How can you take His name in vain? He’s in you!
4.    How can keeping a day be salvic? He’s in you 24/7! And is available to all who would receive Him ever since the resurrection. The law is Spiritual, a day can’t give you rest, that’s an outward physical thing.  It was a shadow of the true rest in Him by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

For the fulfilled in one word, even this “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” Gal. 5:14.

The love of God is spread abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Rom. 5:5
And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace Jhn. 1:16

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ Jhn. 1:17

For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect. Rom. 4:14

For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by
promise. Gal 3:19.

Now Paul tells us in Romans 14 that whichever day you choose to gather is between you and God and we are not to judge anybody about it. However, we all know that the scriptures tell of a thousand year reign the redeemed will have with Christ where Satan is bound for a thousand years. Rev. 20:2. If you want to gather Saturday or whenever, you can keep it prophetically in pointing forward to this rest from Satan’s power, but not legally under the law as a salvation measure.

The Papal powers did that in making Sunday keeping a binding day of obligation under the threat of condemning sin. They resurrected the law which was nailed to the cross for those who have accepted Christ’s sacrifice and received the baptism of the Holy spirit, and made this and other works a salvic issue. They took the law from the old testament time and brought it back and layed the burden of a day and other feast days to dead saints and numerous sacraments, indulgences and confession to men as the way to the Kingdom of God rather than the work of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of ones heart purging one of the unrighteous inherited and cultivated deeds of the body and mind. They changed the times and went from (“Christ in you, the hope of glory” Col 1:27. (Christ is the law; being “the way the truth and the life”Jhn 14:6, “the law of Christ” Gal 6:2, ) to the outward pretence of righteousness which Jesus had once accused the leaders of Israel of being; “whitened sepulchers”, and  “making clean the outside of the cup” Matt 23:27

The problem that SDA’s have with not accepting that which I just presented, is because they were taught that the Sabbath issue is the Basis for their persecution by the rest of the worlds church/state system, and is their seal and test of loyalty to God and claim it’s imperative that they succeed in this endeavor, lest they lose their salvation.

The Parallel, representing the end times, given in the book of Daniel does not suggest that a day is the issue. In Daniels book, the people of God, represented by Mishael, Hananiah and Azariah,  were commanded to bow down to the 90 foot tall golden image on the plain of Dura, on the pain of death, by the church/state system of Babylon when the music played.

The indication here is to worship a system that lives for power and wealth and will put to death anyone who does not accept the established order. It is a covetous, idol loving, materialistic and oppressively pyramidal system.

Jesus said,  “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”

This system is represented in Daniel 2 as the ten toed, clay and iron, global kingdom that will be established, but will not be able to “cleave together”; meaning it won't last.

In order for this new world order to be established and survive, it is necessary for a population reduction because the reality of life, presently, is already showing around the world in starving and warring populations which the governments of the world can’t bring resolve to.  The resources can not support the growing population. The approximately 6 billion plus now is expected to grow to about 9 billion by 2050. The crime rates and civil unrest worldwide are on the increase. The new order will be controlled by the wealthy and powerful, and they will determine who will be expendable. The lower level of inhabitants in the pyramidal system will serve in slavery to the upper levels. Think God’s people as in Egypt here. It also was a prophecy for the end of time and Jesus coming for His bride to deliver them as did Moses for Israel.

Those of God’s true people will not go along with such a Godless plan and will not take part in this systematic elimination of the lives of their fellow man. They will not be able to buy or sell. This is the time of trouble such as never was nor ever again shall be.

We saw a microcosm of such a mass of people moved to destroy their fellow men in the actions of Nazi Germany in WWII. You would think it unbelievable that 70 million people , many that professed to be followers of Christ, (Hitler quoted Luther often to gain the support of European Christains; even SDA’s) could take part in such genocide, but they did.

The Jews, God’s people being annihilated, represented prophetically the spiritual sons and daughters of Abraham being persecuted during the time of the establishment of the now being constructed global empire.

It’s not about a day. “Oh foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ who hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only I would learn of you; Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish, having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If it be yet in Vain. He therefore that ministereth unto you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, (casting sin out of your life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rom 8:13) doeth He it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness, know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. Gal. 3:1-7

But now, after ye have known God ,or rather are known of God,  (intimate relationship by the Holy Spirit within you) how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Gal. 4:9

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. (It still stands for those who have yet to come to Christ to receive the Holy Spirit to receive the cleansing process) Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Rom.7:6,7

For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. (The Holy Spirit) Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: And not as Moses which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of THAT WHICH IS ABOLISHED. But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; (the law) which is done away in Christ. But even unto this day when Moses is read (the law), the vail is upon their heart. (They’re blind, they can’t see that it was fulfilled in Christ and abolished; nailed to the cross). Nevertheless, when it (the heart) shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all with open face beholding as in a glass (the image reflecting back to you as a mirror does) the glory of the Lord, are change into the same image from glory to glory (step by step as we abide in Him and in His word) even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2Cor. 3:11-18

Jesus told the Samaritan woman “ Woman, believeth me, the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet a Jerusalem, worship the Father”
“But the hour cometh and now is, when true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him”
God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jhn. 4: 21,23,24.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love where-with He loved us,
even when we were dead in sins hath He quickened us together with Christ, (By grace ye are saved). And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Eph. 2:4,5,6.

We “sit with Him in heavenly places” because His Spirit is with Him and in us at the same time.

It’s not about a day, or vegetables, or tithe.

For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17

Re: THE LAW IS SPIRITUAL--IT'S NOT ABOUT A DAY

Cadge:  excellent summation of our duty to God--none of which commands our worship on any single day.  When one considers it, how can it be possible to limit worship to God on only one day?  And the obverse:  what we do, if good and honorable, suddenly becomes sinful because of the calendar (plus a moving time zone and the International Time Zone, something unknown in Palestinian time).

Clean and unclean was stricken from the vocabulary when Gentiles became Christians:  it was a total Jewish concept:  foods, humans, and certain conditions were called "unclean."  But when Peter was given the vision, he was told that no longer was anything unclean; and the barrier that once was between Jew and others has now been broken.  The barrier?  It was the rule against eating, intermarriage, or having any relationships with non-Jews.

Think of the barrier between Adventists and all other Christians simply because of a day where no work, or anything but worship and devotions can be done.  Tell that to the children!

Romans 14 and 15

Elaine, I am amazed that anyone can blatantly ignore what Jesus has given us through Paul in chapter 14 and 15 0f Romans and to Peter in acts chapter 10.

Paul tells us not to judge anybody by what they eat or what day they keep (gather).

He tells us that Jesus “the Lord” showed him that there was nothing unclean of itself. God demonstrates and tells Peter as much in Acts chapter 10. Paul said that the “Kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”. God told Peter that He had cleansed these things from their un

Re: THE LAW IS SPIRITUAL--IT'S NOT ABOUT A DAY

Romans 14 and 15

Elaine, I am amazed that anyone can blatantly ignore what Jesus has given us through Paul in chapter 14 and 15 0f Romans and to Peter in acts chapter 10.

Paul tells us not to judge anybody by what foods they eat or what days they keep (gather).

He tells us that Jesus “the Lord” showed him that there was nothing unclean of itself. God demonstrates and tells Peter as much in Acts chapter 10. Paul said that the “Kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit”. God told Peter that He had cleansed these things from their uncleanness, and furthermore, by Peter’s statement in verse 28, that he should not call any man unclean either. He made all that had been formerly designated as unclean as cleansed therefore proclaiming that He had power/authority to remove all sin.

Paul said that “all things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful unto me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” He said to “Let your moderation be made known before all men.”  Don’t over indulge, whether it be food or drink, or any excesses.  Also the corrupt leaders of Israel had imposed heavy burdens and exactions on Israel teaching these things as if they were commandments of God. I suppose they may have thought in imposing these outward rules that they would appear purer and more acceptable to God in order gain His blessing in becoming Holy enough for Messiah’s appearance and the ultimate fulfillment of the promise to Abraham of being as innumerable as the sands of the sea and the stars in the sky and on to becoming the dominant nation of the world. (They’re still working on that over in the Middle East.)

And, on “days”, common sense would tell us that if these people were baptized into the New Covenant church, would they not have known to , or have been instructed in keeping the Sabbath when they were baptized into the church? Why would they not have been told again by Paul the importance of keeping it if they had drifted away from it? Therefore it can not be a salvation issue,  nor can what one eats.

Now what many fail to do is to look further into the letter to the Roman church in chapter 15 verse four. Paul says that “Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”.

The days were shadows of things to come, having been fulfilled in Jesus. He is our rest, our Sabbath; everyday by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (which Spirit He was given without measure JN 3:34); our seal that we are His. The Sabbath is not our seal, the Holy Spirit is.  “After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise” Eph 1:13. “Grieve not the Holy Spirit by which ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” Eph 4:30.

The sealing of the foreheads of the 144,000 in Revelation are those that have our Father’s name, His character. They are Enochs, so to speak. Jesus was the first fruits of the New Covenant (1Cor 15:20), whereas Enoch was the type in the Old covenant. Then the 144,000 are referred to as the first fruits also (Rev 14:4). They have our Father’s heart, as did Enoch. That’s their sealing. It’s not the Sabbath day either. We’re not sealed by keeping a day. We’re sealed by being given the Holy Spirit, and it is our proof that we are His. “If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us. Herby we Know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit.” 1 John 4:12,13 & 1John 3:24.

The unclean designation was about types, physical restrictions for spiritual lessons.  God used the physical to discipline the mind in order to condition us to habits of spiritual disciplines in order to understand and follow the heart of our heavenly Father.  He used these things also in order to keep Israel separate from the influences of the other nations until “the seed”, Jesus came. The same with not mixing different fibers in making clothing, or staying away from ones wife when she was in her time each month. They were types for understanding the spiritual nature of sin; that it needed to be feared and kept away from, but there was never really anything unclean of itself.

Jesus taught that it wasn’t just the outward act, but even at the level of thought was sin existent;  a spiritual malady. So these were laws that were done away in the coming of Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was given so that we might come to know the mind of Christ (the anointed Messiah, by whom we come to Know the Father); which is the law being written in our hearts; “the law of Christ”; His way, His Truth, and His life.

“The law and the prophets were until John, since that time the Kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it” Luke 16:16

“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” John 1:17
