Re: The War on Drugs

here's a way to fund the war on drugs....
maybe even the whole government!!!!

charge everybody who gets a check....
for urine testing... !!!!

and make ones paycheck or welfare check depend on the "out"come...

from the internet rounds.....

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, and they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So here is my Question. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their rump--doing drugs, while I work.

Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program,

'Urine or You're Out'.

signed...ARchie

Re: The War on Drugs

I'll drink to that, John. All welfare recipients should be be UA'd. I've worked with groups in the prison system and as a CASA (court appointed special advocate) for neglected and abused children, I know how many parents are drug and alcohol addicts. Requiring a urine test might clean some people up.

The only problem is.......there are ways to falsify an accurate reading. So the procedure might take more time than welfare workers would want to have to deal with.

Re: The War on Drugs

"The only problem is.......there are ways to falsify an accurate reading. So the procedure might take more time than welfare workers would want to have to deal with".

No problem. Any expence, labor or otherwise, at the onset of the procedures will pay back in multifold blessings. Wherever checks are doled out have them appoint or hire a Pee collecting tech. So what if the collectee gets their check on that day. By the time the test results come back it will be determined if the subject is any longer eligible to recieve support. If not, then instead of issuing a check on the regular date, you issue a card with a list of bridges nearby. They can live under them, or whatever. It's their choice. If they knew that their support was conducive to a substance free maintenance of life and did not avail themselves of the many programs to arrest their malady, then the results are of their own making. This program being run by this method will save an awful lot of lives and also funding that could be used to better serve the taxpayers from whence it came.

"and make ones paycheck or welfare check depend on the "out"come... "

Good post John

We need to open up a thing like FDR's CCC camps. "if you don't work, you don't eat". Short term emergency handouts are one thing, but to create a culture of beggars robs the honest man of what he has rightfully earned and robs the recipient of the self respect and dignity that comes from providing for oneself. It is a terrible self-replicating curse on society. A welfare system that does not reqire work is an encouragement towards moral corruption. "Idle hands are the devils workshop".

Cadge

Re: The War on Drugs

I have a further proposal to solve the drug problem.

anybody caught selling or distributing, or large dependant users will be given a one way greyhound bus pass back to the country of their origin, or to Arkansas...

where we will surround the state with razor wire since its the razorback state anyway.

we'll put BillClinton in charge as the drug czar

and since he never inhaled or impaled, we can trust him implicitly, right?

there will be hospitals for those "guests" wanting rehab, and free drugs for those who want to just enjoy frying their brains....

there will be only the necessary modern facilities

along with gardens to till for food, and wild pigs to catch for the meat eaters,

and free rice provided by friendly guards

along with plenty of beans.

once anyone has sincerely shown success at rehab, they will be given another bus tkt back to either their relatives, or CCC job camps where they will work to pay for their vacation until they can prove they can become productive members of society.

there might be separate vacation camps for guys like Bernie who "made off" with everybodys money
and congressman Jefferson without his 90,000$ cash in the freezer...along with any ACLU lawyers who loudly oppose the solution.
