Are they all crooks?

not our icon, Teddie Kennedy....
he has just been knighted,
to honor the Big Dig in Baahstun, a waste of only 15 billion....

and to promote his new, proposed library

ovah on Mahthah's Vinyaahd.... neah the bridge he made famous.....

as as proof? I can only offer what I heard from a friend who heard it from a participant.

I went to academy with a gal who was the proverbial good time had by all (except me, of course)....she was not only a rebelious PK, but a knockout!!!

Upon graduation, she migrated to DC...got a job as a secretary in the Johnson Admin... befriended another gal with whom she bought a townhouse in Georgetown... and to pay for it, they "moonlighted" as party gals who got paid to promote "events" sponsored by lobbyists trying to get the attention (and votes) of congressmen.

She later told me the whole story.... about the booze, the money, the payoffs, the bribes, the private hideaways of the lobbyists which were made available to "entertain" congressmen....

her friend worked for Bobby Kennedy, and when he was killed, she transferred to Teddie's staff, and was one of the girls in charge of entertainment on the island at the time of mary Jo Kopechne's "accidental" drowning....

and to make sure the friend did not talk to anybody...
my friend said that within days of the incident, her friend received a brand new jaguar, stored it in her garage, and left for a prepaid year long world cruise!!!!

that way she would not be around to chat with the press!!!

guess one should not run for politics without a good dose of male hormones, and lottsa money to buy influence and cover up naughty-ical "events" on the "monkey business", and pay to dry clean those blue dresses on which "I did not have sex" with, ah, er, ms lewdinski..."

Re: Are they all crooks?

The OJ case reminded me of the "Chappaquiddick incident".

Guilty, but good attorneys, stern denials, celebrity, throw some money at it. Ya' know- the American Way.

In America, its not necessarily what you did, but who you are. Hey, Madoff only took maybe $50 Billion. Destroyed many lives. Several have committed suicide in disgrace. So what! His wife has 60 something million in the bank that she obviously earned herself fair and square as Bernie's long time legal mistress/concubine. How do these guys have the nerve to take a breath let alone spend money with their attorneys arguing this stuff in court?

But, back to politicians... I think a prerequisite of the job of a politician is to be crooked. Some statesmen have served in the role of politicians in our history but to have a career as a politician is not very dissimilar to having the job of a con(fidence) man or woman.

Thanks Cadge, I agree 100%

Of course, Bob may find my agreement to be of the DEVIL, or of SATAN, but I still agree with your fair sentiments.

Thank you, and I bow to you.

Thank you

Neal

P**s off Bob

the Big "O" may not yet be proven to be the usual crook, but when the teleprompter goes out, he makes Bush look and sound like a savant!!!!

http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/025763.html

in case you haven't noticed, he READS all his speaches from teleprompters spaced to his left AND right, so he looks from one side to the other, pretending he is talking to people on both sides.... but really he is reading somebody else's prepared speach.

Feds spending millions on Kennedy legacy in Mass.

BOSTON – More than one out of every five dollars of the $126 million Massachusetts is receiving in earmarks from a $410 billion federal spending package is going to help preserve the legacy of the Kennedys.
The bill includes $5.8 million for the planning and design of a building to house a new Edward M. Re: Are they all crooks?

Obama's safety net: the TelePrompter

Reuters – A worker at the White House cleans a teleprompter to be used during a speech by U.S President Barack …
President Barack Obama doesn’t go anywhere without his TelePrompter.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20090305/pl_polit ico/19663

The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president’s prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks.

Resting on top of a tall, narrow pole, they flank his podium during speeches in the White House’s stately parlors. They stood next to him on the floor of a manufacturing plant in Indiana as he pitched his economic stimulus plan. They traveled to the Department of Transportation this week and were in the Capitol Rotunda last month when he paid tribute to Abraham Lincoln in six-minute prepared remarks.

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

After the teleprompter malfunctioned a few times last summer and Obama delivered some less-than-soaring speeches, reports surfaced that he was training to wean himself off of the device while on vacation in Hawaii. But no such luck.

His use of the teleprompter makes work tricky for the television crews and photographers trying to capture an image of the president announcing a new Cabinet secretary or housing plan without a pane of glass blocking his face. And it is a startling sight to see such sleek, modern technology set against the mahogany doors and Bohemian crystal chandeliers in the East Room or the marble columns of the Grand Foyer.

“It’s just something presidents haven’t done,” said Martha Joynt Kumar, a presidential historian who has held court in the White House since December 1975. “It’s jarring to the eye. In a way, it stands in the middle between the audience and the president because his eye is on the teleprompter.”

Just how much of a crutch the teleprompter has become for Obama was on sharp display during his latest commerce secretary announcement. The president spoke from a teleprompter in the ornate Indian Treaty Room for a few minutes. Then Gov. Gary Locke stepped to the podium and pulled out a piece of paper for reference.

The president’s teleprompter also elicited some uncomfortable laughter after he announced Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as his choice for Health and Human Services secretary. “Kathy,” Obama said, turning the podium over to Sebelius, who waited at the microphone for an awkward few seconds while the teleprompters were lowered to the floor and the television cameras rolled.

Obama has relied on a teleprompter through even the shortest announcements and when repeating the same lines on his economic stimulus plan that he's been saying for months — whereas past presidents have mostly worked off of notes on the podium except during major speeches, such as the State of the Union.

Ari Fleischer, a former spokesman for George W. Bush, said while it’s entirely a matter of personal style, using a teleprompter at these smaller events has its drawbacks.

“It removes you from the audience in the room,” Fleischer said. When speaking from notes, Fleischer said, the president can pick up his head and make eye contact with those in the audience, as opposed to focusing on the teleprompter to his left and right.

Bush, Fleischer added, “would use the teleprompter for his major big events, but when he would travel around the country or do events, he would almost always work off of large index cards.”

The White House says Obama’s point of reference is insignificant.

"Whether one uses note cards or a teleprompter, the American people are a lot more concerned about the plans relayed than the method of delivery. This is not always true of the media," said Bill Burton, deputy press secretary.

Obama has never tried to hide his use of a teleprompter. It was a mainstay during the final months of his campaign. He brought it to county fairs and campaign rallies alike — and once had it set up in the ring at a rodeo.

In a break from his routine, Obama did not use a teleprompter during his pre-Inauguration speech at a factory in Bedford Heights, Ohio — and his delivery seemed to suffer. He paused too long at parts. He accentuated the wrong words. And overall he sounded hesitant and halting as he spoke from the prepared remarks on the podium.

As president, the stakes in what he says are higher. Governing is not campaigning, and, as a former first-term senator, Obama has not held a previous elected position where his words carried even close to this level of influence.

“In this kind of environment, you don’t want to make mistakes — on the economy you’re talking about doing things that affect the markets,” Kumar said.

But be it extra precaution, style or a mental crutch, Obama has shown in the past that he needs the teleprompter. And while he still has his prepared remarks placed on the podium in a leather folder, the White House has shown no sign of trying to wean him off of it.

Before Obama entered a room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on Wednesday to announce his crackdown on defense contracts, a CNN reporter asked an Obama aide if the teleprompter could be moved further away from the podium or lowered. The answer was an unequivocal ‘no.’

“He uses them to death,” a television crewmember who also covered the White House under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush said of the teleprompter. “The problem is, he never looks at you. He’s looking left, right, left, right — not at the camera. It’s almost like he’s not making eye contact with the American people.”

Wednesday’s event posed another scenario photographers and television crews have to work around. Obama had five others join him at the announcement, including Sen. John McCain. The takeaway shot was of Obama and McCain. But the teleprompter on Obama’s left was almost directly in front of McCain.

“You couldn’t get a good angle on him with McCain,” said a White House photographer who also covered Bush. “So if there’s someone else important in the frame, it’s hard to get a shot without the teleprompt

Re: Are they all crooks?

comments on the above article seem to portrayour POTUS as a bumbling idiot making Bush seem like an elder statesman!!!

quotes:

Perfect example of how unprepared he is to be president...pitiful!

Another good post for the purpose of crowning Obama as "The Karaoke President".

Please, if we could make that one stick to his Media Teflon Coating.

That is brilliant!! I'm going to pass that around to everyone I know.

It’s almost like he’s not making eye contact with the American people.

I'd be ashamed to face the nation, too, if I was that blisteringly incompetent.

First sign of a liar -- won't make eye contact.

Exactly. He's told so many lies he can't remember them all. He has to have his stories written down so he doesn't mess up and have the awful truth slip out. Idiot. .

I always worry about people serving me without looking into my eyes.

As a connubial organizer, ya think he and Michelle can get down without any Acorn briefings, a quick call to Bill Ayers about "burn this mutha down!", and remembering Uncle Frank before giving it up for the state (no mention of the ten million from Soros) ?

Put that blackberry down and get over here Potus !
This is so "inside baseball" that it's hardly worth dwelling on.

Yes, he's an incompetent blithering idiot, but that's not really news, is it?

If he had anything worthwhile to say *on* the teleprompter, I couldn't care less if he had one of the bloody things suspended from his brow 24/7/365.

But ••••• be weaned off it, as soon as they make a darker flesh-toned hidden earpiece for him to wear, or start placing someone from the WH staff front and center of all appearances including the White House Press Briefing Room to proctor his lines.

Classic about the earpiece!!
But this central as it is another example of Marxist, oops, Liberal, oops, Progressive mythology..........Bush is an idiot, can't speak well....bumbles....etc.
May be this guy is just as bumbling.........without a script!

He is! Have you not seen you tube videos of him with out a telepromter? I like this one,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyW9e5QdWxk&fe...

Now the plan is to put a computer screen in the podium, for him to read off of, and get answer to the questions asked. So instead of looking left and right, he will be looking down!

}
Why do “Cuban-Americans” have the privilege of travel to Cuba while other Americans are not allowed? I thought that we had only one type of American in this country.

Isn’t it about time we stopped being “hyphenated Americans”? We second-class citizens are not allowed to visit Cuba. How many generations does one have to live in the United States to become an American without a hyphen?

Try that question Elaine on African Americans or Jewish Americans, and hear the explicatives and labels fly, racist and anti Semite. And who has encouraged them to jump on people like that, the liberal, progressive right.

I have been for all people living in America legally to be treated fairly, including this Canadian-American, not yet naturalized, but married to a beautiful American gal. Give me some examples of people that are on a green card who get on public forums and trash the president, the citizens, and the policies & laws of their host country?

THAT's the difference. My wife has been on a green card since 1972 but she would never get on forums and trash this country like you do.

Your disregard for what is acceptable in civilized society is pathetic.

Re: Are they all crooks?

Why don't you tell us why you have not taken the test? You must have a good reason after 35 years.

If you don't, we are free to come to whatever speculative conclusions we feel like.

As for my wife, she still loves the Queen. Maybe when the Queen dies she will become a citizen.
