We are the only occupants created in God's image.

I could be wrong here, but I don't recall that being an assertion that the Hebrew Bible makes (what the NT calls scripture).

If it is, please refresh my memory.

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

Neal, open your mind up. The Bible is about creation of this earth, not the universe. The universe is not 6000 years old. The universe is much older. I believe that. Now, what mockery do you have in response to that?

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

The Bible is about creation of this earth, not the universe.

ok....so lets refer to the Bible, which apparently may not justify the above belief.

lets read it in modern, grade school English so that everybody can understand:

(CEV) Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was barren, with no form of life; it was under a roaring ocean covered with darkness. But the Spirit of God was moving over the water. 3 God said, "I command light to shine!" And light started shining. 4 God looked at the light and saw that it was good. He separated light from darkness 5 and named the light "Day" and the darkness "Night." Evening came and then morning -- that was the first day.

ok...light on the first day.... but no sun yet....

6 God said, "I command a dome to separate the water above it from the water below it." 7 And that's what happened. God made the dome 8 and named it "Sky." Evening came and then morning -- that was the second day.

ok.... the dome comes on the 2nd day, to separate the waters below from the waters above as follows:!!!

9 God said, "I command the water under the sky to come together in one place, so there will be dry ground." And that's what happened. 10 God named the dry ground "Land," and he named the water "Ocean." God looked at what he had done and saw that it was good.

so there you have it....the infamous, non-existant DOME!!!!

later...

11 God said, "I command the earth to produce all kinds of plants, including fruit trees and grain." And that's what happened. 12 The earth produced all kinds of vegetation. God looked at what he had done, and it was good. 13 Evening came and then morning -- that was the third day.

all kinds of vegetation!!! including poisonous mushrooms masquerading as edible??? prickers on raspberry bushes to make sure we don't over indulge in them without getting all scratched up???

14 God said, "I command lights to appear in the sky and to separate day from night and to show the time for seasons, special days, and years. 15 I command them to shine on the earth." And that's what happened. 16 God made two powerful lights, the brighter one to rule the day and the other to rule the night. He also made the stars. 17 Then God put these lights in the sky to shine on the earth, 18 to rule day and night, and to separate light from darkness. God looked at what he had done, and it was good. 19 Evening came and then morning -- that was the fourth day.

so...God made plants which need sunlight before He made the sun.... kinda backwards...

and the sun and the stars are put in heaven only on the 4th day.... and those heavenly bodies are way out there,.... part of the Universe which you admit may be millions of years old...yet here it is claimed that they were put there on the 4th day!!! to "shine" on the earth...which you claim was about 6000 yrs ago!!!

how does that explain light coming from stars that are far away? the Orion Nebula, which EGW mistakenly thought was a "hole in the sky,", thru which the New Jerusalem would come 'down"... is actually a Nebula...gas AND breeding grounds for new stars still being created!!! and the area is about 1,600 light years away!!! the light that we see from orion is coming to us from the time of Constantines vision which officially approved the legal start of Christianity.

Bob...how do you pick and chose which texts to believe, which ones to re-interpret, and which ones to replace with your own beliefs?

(Message edited by john8verse32 on April 30, 2009)

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

John, you forget, God is so bright there will be no night or day in heaven or need for a sun. That could be the light, eh until the Sun in our solar system, not for the whole universe was created, eh. Are you following????

When Moses wrote this, it rains, right, so he thinks something has to keep that "heavy" water up there, so he thinks a dome does. You mock it but it more than likely is a novice scientist, trying to explain what he sees, feels and experiences. You, Neal and Elaine what quantum physices and modern science to come out of Moses mouth and pen, right. Where do you get this fantasy about Moses doing this?

To hijack the thread for a moment:

<!-quote-!>quote:
I have private emails where Ryan refuses to deal with the likes of you, and essentially tells me I'm on my own even though he is working for the SDAs.<!-/quote-!>

Bob, you have a way of misinterpreting what people say to you. I'm inclined to believe that this is what happened to any e-mails you may have from me. You're welcome, however, to make public any of those private e-mails.

Ryan

(Message edited by admin on May 01, 2009)

Ryan, glad you are honest about the emails. You pay no attention to the mocking of God. Only when it appears to mock you. Good moderation?? Did you ever figure out what Neal meant when he used STFU??? More than one time??

BTW, I don't have a problem with you clarifying that email publicly or privately given the abuse and mockery happening on the forum. To state, you will not clear the "path" for me, I'm on my own, how many ways can you take it???

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

Saying that the earth was created specifically for human life is like comparing tomato worms and tomato plants; or maybe chickens or eggs.

Which came first, and what evidence is there to support the answer?

He stipulated that earth was going to be able to sustain life for those created in His image. That my answer, MY FINAL ANSWER

Bob, you wrote this on one of your posts in this thread. Go find it--just like I did.
Do you disagree with your "Final Answer"?

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

I didn't exclude animals as being able to live on this earth, or God's purpose to have human life and animal life as, I think you are suggesting. That's why I was sort of surprised at your jump in logic or assumption of what I had said. But it is a far cry from what you said I said that I put in bold red two posts above. Can you see the difference???

Nor did I intend to rule out vegetative life either, that man would need for eating. Sheeeeeesh!!!!

"life for those created in His image"

were the words used. If you believe that animal and vegetable life were created in His image, you need to go back to Biology 101 (if you ever took it).

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

Never said that, you did. Vegetative and animal were part of God's creation. What is you ultimate point, you seem to being tedious.

Re: The Universe...created for life? or .....

arguing over minutia will not save us from God or Mother Natures Random Bowling....

all it points out is those who complain the loudest about capitalization and others reading history cannot themselves write complete and logical sentences.**

What is you ultimate point, you seem to being tedious.

take a time out to watch this national Geographic TV Special about Asteroids: deadly impact

Check out Meteor Crater in Ariz... hear Gene Shoemaker (rip) explain how many of what we once thought were volcanic features pockmarking the earth's and moon's surface are actually evidence that wandering space debris has hit us numerous times before...and probably will again.

http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/asteroids_dea dly_impact/

PS.... Gene Shoemaker died in an car accident in OZ while exploring more craters..... his final wish was accomodated by NASA...and some of his ashes were literally blasted to and buried on the moon!!!!

of course, all this could be wrong, those impact craters could all have been "planted" by the Ole Debil who also changed some good mushrooms into poisonous ones to make sure scientists don't get into heaven which of course, requires that we believe the earth is only 6000 yrs old and that everything God created in the earths first 144 hrs was good.

**Bob...two suggestions:

1) why don't you drop your personal diatribe against Elaine as all you are succeeding in doing is calling negative attention to yourself...the rest of us see Elaine as being far more educated and  well read than most of us...including you!!!!;

and
2) you might try writing your posts first in word perfect, or MS Word, or even in your email program where you can check spelling and grammar.... then reread and rewrite it for clarity and logic BEFORE posting here....

my AOL allows me to start a post inside an email without sending it, then check it for spelling and even minor grammar, then it offers suggestions to improve, which I usually accept and copy back to ATomorrow for posting....

but either way, sit back, and watch a great national Geographic special..... (presuming you're not on dial up!!)

John, why be so petty!!!! What difference does capitalization or sentence structure matter,eh??? I think you can likewise get Word to help you with your cap problem. Try it you might like it.

I think after reading JR and his misspelt words, you know what I'm saying, if not you can always ask kindly and I will clarify. If you catch my drift.

John be fair in your defense of individuals, and I might take you serious. Favoritism even on a sexist level is unbecoming. Elaine is a big girl, don't fight her battle for her. Maybe work on Neal and his problems, eh????
