There is a saying: "Use it or lose it". <BR> <BR>There have been several skills I've lost by not using them. <BR> <BR>So in bout of bad conscience I some nights ago started reading "Mord på ljusa dagen" (original title "Evil Under the Sun", written by A.Christie) <BR> <BR>My experience is that detective stories are the best source for the basic vocabulary of most languages. <BR> <BR>Today at 00.30 the task was finished. At first I had to resort twice per page to a dictionary, but quite soon I found out that a 65000 word dictionary quite often did not know the words I was searching for. <BR> <BR>So I quitted using it. <BR> <BR> <BR>But the plot was veeeery complicated. IMO even Hercole Poirot could not in real life been able to solve the mystery. <BR> <BR>IMO it is easier to create a mystery than solve it. <BR> <BR> <BR>And how it happened that my thoughts were directed to religion and from religion to Adventism. <BR> <BR>And thereafter to a certain prophetess and certain prophetic intrepretations. <BR> <BR>Many times those interpretations have been so convoluted that even the plots of Dame Agatha are simple when compared with the traditional explanations I heard in my youth. <BR> <BR>So it was no wonder, that I was wondering (pun intended) the words of Saviour, when He told "Let the children ...". Did Jesus actually err?? <BR> <BR>How could the children comprehend the argumentation for the year 1844, as proving it demands 14 links in a chain (those steps are enumerated in "Judged by the Gospel" by R.D.B., pages 108 - 110 in the edition printed in 1980)? <BR> <BR>And understanding those 14 steps is crucial, as 1844 is one of the 3 pillars, as testified by EGW many times. <BR> <BR> <BR>Any comments?
