Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

global warming..."the biggest scam in history"

by John Coleman, one of the original weathermen on the Weather Channel:

The Amazing Story Behind Tho Global Warming Scam

By John Coleman
January 28, 2009

The key players are now all in place in Washington and in state governments across America to officially label carbon dioxide as a pollutant and enact laws that tax we citizens for our carbon footprints. Only two details stand in the way, the faltering economic times and a dramatic turn toward a colder climate. The last two bitter winters have lead to a rise in public awareness that CO2 is not a pollutant and is not a significant greenhouse gas that is triggering runaway global warming.

How did we ever get to this point where bad science is driving big government we have to struggle so to stop it?

The story begins with ..........

read it here:
http://www.kusi.com/weather/colemanscorner/3857474 2.html

conclusion?
today we have the acceptance of carbon dioxide as the culprit of global warming. It is concluded that when we burn fossil fuels we are leaving a dastardly carbon footprint which we must pay Al Gore or the environmentalists to offset. Our governments on all levels are considering taxing the use of fossil fuels. The Federal Environmental Protection Agency is on the verge of naming CO2 as a pollutant and strictly regulating its use to protect our climate. The new President and the US congress are on board. Many state governments are moving on the same course.

We are already suffering from this CO2 silliness in many ways. Our energy policy has been strictly hobbled by no drilling and no new refineries for decades. We pay for the shortage this has created every time we buy gas. On top of that the whole thing about corn based ethanol costs us millions of tax dollars in subsidies. That also has driven up food prices. And, all of this is a long way from over.

And, I am totally convinced there is no scientific basis for any of it.

Global Warming. It is the hoax. It is bad science. It is a high jacking of public policy. It is no joke. It is the greatest scam in history.

John Coleman

Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

Physics professor William Happer GS ’64 has some tough words for scientists who believe that carbon dioxide is causing global warming.

http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/2009/01/12/22506/
“This is George Orwell. This is the ‘Germans are the master race. The Jews are the scum of the earth.’ It’s that kind of propaganda,” Happer, the Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics, said in an interview.

“Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. Every time you exhale, you exhale air that has 4 percent carbon dioxide. To say that that’s a pollutant just boggles my mind. What used to be science has turned into a cult.”

Happer served as director of the Office of Energy Research in the U.S. Department of Energy under President George H.W. Bush and was subsequently fired by Vice President Al Gore, reportedly for his refusal to support Gore’s views on climate change.

He asked last month to be added to a list of global warming dissenters in a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee report. The list includes more than 650 experts who challenge the belief that human activity is contributing to global warming

Though Happer has promulgated his skepticism in the past, he requested to be named a skeptic in light of the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, whose administration has, as Happer notes, “stated that carbon dioxide is a pollutant” and that humans are “poisoning the atmosphere.”

Happer maintains that he doubts there is any strong anthropogenic influence on global temperature.

So, bovine flatuance wasn't causing global warming after all. The only hot air was coming from Al Gore. Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

global warming is more likely to hit low lying coastal areas...florida, the Chesapeake area, ...
more than Chicago!!!!

http://news.aol.com/article/sea-level-rise-risks/3 31360

Ice Melt Could Increase Sea Level Risks
AP
posted: 4 HOURS 16 MINUTES AGO

WASHINGTON (Feb. 5) - Long-term sea level increases that could have a devastating effect on southern Florida and highly populated coastal areas may be even larger than once thought, a report suggests.
Some studies have suggested that melting of ice in Antarctica and other areas could raise sea levels by 16 feet to 17 feet over the long run, a potential threat to coastal areas such as Washington, D.C., New York City and California.

new estimates run up to 25 feet of sea level increase...

however, since this is a cyclical thing, there are records of fossil beaches up to 80 feet higher than current ocean levels!!! and records of past warming, tend to show that we are not quite at the top of the warming trend, thus more glacial menting is a natural thing , and the oceans will rise possibly more than 25 feet in the distant future...

the claim that CO2 is causing it is suspect, since the natural cycles predate the invention of mans invention of the infernal combustion machine and our increase in creation of CO2...

the increase may just be due to the Melankovitch Cycle causingt cyclical warming, which warms the oceans, which release CO2... or the increased warming may be releasing natural breakdown gas products (including methane) from peat moss in arctic areas which now are warm enuf for natural decay to start...

or it simply may be that the warmer things get, the more termites there are eating dead organic material and creating C02 and methane...

either way, the claim that mankind is causing it all is far from proven.

what IS proven, are the past cycles, which indicate that we have more warming to go, and more ocean level rising to go.

hint: do NOT buy real estate in the Seychelles, the Maldives, or the coastal Everglades!!!

Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

notice on the graph which follows that about 20,000 yrs ago, global temps were at a minimum....therefore water was locked up in glacial ice, and sea levels were as much as 400 feet lower than today...

....explaining how ancient humans were able to gain access to Cosquers Cave to paint now extincet animals... and as the worlds temps rose due to naturaal forces (not All Gores explanation), ocean levels rose blocking access to the cave.

....thus the land bridge..Beringia...between Siberia and Alaska.... which, once the oceans rose sufficiently to overtop the land bridge, frigid arctic ocean water would have poured south, quickly changing the climate, and freezing off the wooley mammoths.
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/parcs/atlas/beringia/lbridge.html

....thus the connections between many of the islands in Indonesia..enabling humans to spread between them....

yet, about 130,000 yrs ago, global temps were even higher than today... meaning, even more of the glaciers would have melted, and raised ocean levels even higher than today.... supporting the theory based on fossil beaches currently higher than todays beaches, that we still have more "warming" to go, and more ocean level rising still to come.

the Glades are also suffering from diversion of fresh water to the metropolitan areas of S. Florida.... and the waste water not returned to the Glades, but pumped out sewer lines into the ocean...

so the "moving river" which is the Everglades is rapidly becoming short changed of the water to keep it 'flowing" south....

Hamburgers are the problem!!!! not Hummers !!

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.e36a67 d49c1127a8c17cc38ed4a4c27e.211&show_article=1

quote:
When it comes to global warming, hamburgers are the Hummers of food, scientists say.

Simply switching from steak to salad could cut as much carbon as leaving the car at home a couple days a week.

That's because beef is such an incredibly inefficient food to produce and cows release so much harmful methane into the atmosphere, said Nathan Pelletier of Dalhousie University in Canada.

Pelletier is one of a growing number of scientists studying the environmental costs of food from field to plate.

By looking at everything from how much grain a cow eats before it is ready for slaughter to the emissions released by manure, they are getting a clearer idea of the true costs of food.
The livestock sector is estimated to account for 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and beef is the biggest culprit.

Even though beef only accounts for 30 percent of meat consumption in the developed world it's responsible for 78 percent of the emissions, Pelletier said Sunday at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

That's because a single kilogram of beef produces 16 kilograms carbon dioxide equivalent emissions: four times higher than pork and more than ten times as much as a kilogram of poultry, Pelletier said.

If people were to simply switch from beef to chicken, emissions would be cut by 70 percent, Pelletier said.

Another part of the problem is people are eating far more meat than they need to.
"Meat once was a luxury in our diet," Pelletier said. "We used to eat it once a week. Now we eat it every day."

If meat consumption in the developed world was cut from the current level of about 90 kilograms a year to the recommended level of 53 kilograms a year, livestock related emissions would fall by 44 percent.

"Given the projected doubling of (global) meat production by 2050, we're going to have to cut our emissions by half just to maintain current levels," Pelletier said.
"Technical improvements are not going to get us there."
That's why changing the kinds of food people eat is so important, said Chris Weber, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania.
Food is the third largest contributor to the average US household's carbon footprint after driving and utilities, and in Europe - where people drive less and have smaller homes - it has an even greater impact.

"Food is of particular importance to a consumer's impact because it's a daily choice that is, at least in theory, easy to change," Weber said.
"You make your choice every day about what to eat, but once you have a house and a car you're locked into that for a while."

The average US household contributes about five tons of carbon dioxide a year by driving and about 3.5 tons of equivalent emissions with what they eat, he said.

"Switching to no red meat and no dairy products is the equivalent of (cutting out) 8,100 miles driven in a car ... that gets 25 miles to the gallon," Weber said in an interview following the symposium.

Buying local meat and produce will not have nearly the same effect, he cautioned.
That's because only five percent of the emissions related to food come from transporting food to market.
end quote

Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

Ted Hamilton, MD, just got back from being at Loma Linda and while out there he was given information on a preliminary study from almost 100,000 people that were surveyed on their dietary habits. The results are VERY interesting. Here they are as it relates to longevity of life:

Diet:

Regular Life expectancy the lowest

Vegan

(No meat, egg, cheese or dairy product at all)
Life expectancy is almost exactly as that of regular diet

Vegetarian, eating eggs,

cheese, dairy products, etc.) Better than the above, by about 25%

Vegetarian, eating eggs, BEST OF ALL

cheese, dairy products and fish

only - no other meat

It's also proven to be better to have nuts every day.

WOW, very surprising!

I guess I must be eating exactly right!

John

My trading assistant is from Omaha. About a year ago I was kidding him about Omaha, beef, etc and told him that its better to be a vegetarian and drive a Hummer than eat Omaha beef and drive a Prius. He thought I was nuts til he researched it!

I just got back from seeing a presentation at CU given by Tom Friedman (writer of The World is Flat & his recently published Hot, Flat & Crowded). Very interesting.

Will comment further on it when I have the time. One quick point: He said the warming will happen so fast most of the deniers will live long enough to see exactly how wrong they were!

Later.

I am not a denier....I agree that global warming is going on...

...but it is an ONGOING issue from 20,000 years back...

...and certainly not caused solely by Hummer exhaust...

...and maye not even caused principally by humans

we have cows, termites and decaying vegetation to blame for probably over half!!! warming peatbogs releasing co2 and methane, warming oceans releasing c02... probably account for much of the rest...

it will take years for the vegetation to catch up, propagate, and start using all that c02 to by combining with H20 to make carbohydrates... sugars like the sap in the Maples starting to run back here.

then the warmer oceans will bloom with algae, and other tiny marine organizms, which will take up more C02, and eventually, they will die, drop to the bottom of shallow seas, andmake LIMESTONE...thereby using and tying up the increased CO2....

then the climate may start cooling again as the northern hemisphere tilts away from the sun on its Melankovitch Cycle, and glaciers will again spread south and envelope NYC, leaving more scars in the bedrock pointing toward labrador.

provided, of course, Osama, in the name of his version of God, takes over Pakistan's nukes and uses them on us.....

his motto is the same as Obamas!!!
"change"

and

"Yes we can"!!!!!

Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

uncharted territory?

thats when the ice melt from Greenland spreads fresh water all over the N. Atlantic, causing the "N. Atlantic Conveyor" to slow if not shut down, meaning the Gulfstream may slow down, which would cool down NE, and rain would turn to glaciers in Nova Scotia and labrador.

When the river of relative warm water stops reaching all the way to the Brit Isles and N. Europe... they will all freeze..... and a new ice age could begin!!!

Ironic...global warming could bring on an ice age!!!

all by natural causes....like the evidence of sea floor cores indicates that it has happened in the past.

I'm doing my part however!!! only one v-8 (and 3 v-6's), my house was heated by the sun all day today, 75 inside, 35 outside, and I don't eat meat at all.....so I don't feel guilty for not buying into Al Bores carbon credit scam.

Re: Global Warming Hits Chicago!!!!

Scientists meet to dispute global warming theory
Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow - 3/8/2009 4:00:00 AM

NEW YORK CITY - The A-list of manmade climate-change skeptics is meeting in New York City for the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change.

The Conference is definitely international in scope. Opening the conference is Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic and the European Union. When it comes to manmade global warming, Klaus calls that a myth. He is also an outspoken critic of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and says the panel is one-sided and has a political agenda.

Featured at the conference will be more than 70 scientists who do not subscribe to the notion that so-called global warming is driven by manmade emissions of carbon dioxide, one of those being Harrison "Jack" Schmitt -- one of the last astronauts to walk on the moon.

Read 'Bucking the media trend on global warming "crisis"'

The Conference is being hosted by The Heartland Institute. Dan Miller is the director of public relations at Heartland.

"What we are trying to accomplish with this conference is to present to the politicians and to the public that the debate is not over about global warming or climate change; that there is plenty of room for disagreement; and that sound science shows that the earth is not warming," says Miller.

"For much of the latter part of the 20th century there's been a mild warming as we come out of an ice age -- but the planet today is much cooler than it was a thousand years ago."

Besides the 70+ scientists at this conference, more than 650 scientists worldwide have expressed skepticism over manmade climate change.

<!-quote-!>quote:
Over the last 400,000 years the natural upper limit of atmospheric CO2 concentrations was about 300 ppm. Today, CO2 concentrations worldwide average about 370 ppm. Humans may be able to take credit for some of these additions, but not all of them. Earth's plant life will respond to soak up these additions with additional biologic activity, but this takes time. Meanwhile perhaps up to 9% of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere today may be attributable to human-related activities like agriculture, industry, and transportation. Compared to former geologic periods, concentrations of CO2 in our atmosphere are still very small and may not have a statistically measurable effect on global temperatures.
