Um, Bob, didn't you just quote someone who suggested sending Evolutionists to a colony on Mars?

might be better to send the non believers to Jupiter where they can verify how wrong they are by learning from those "tall, majestic people living there without sin".....

and that would free up all fundy believers to blissfully sail off the edge of the 6 kyo flat earth all by themselves back into the 16th century....

without benefit of vaccines...which are based on our knowledge of evolution and how the bugs "evolve" to adapt to our antibiotics...

without benefit of satellite communications...which is based on our growing understanding of how the laws of the universe work...

The trip to Mars would be forced. By Christians.

Sorta like the Russians sending people to Siberia.

Are you still defending that guy, Bob?

You want a Christian Gulag for evolutionists, even Christian evolutionists???

Really, I'm serious.

DO YOU???

Yeah, they don't allow Christian Creationist Scientists to participate in their Science, therefore it is as if they sent the Creationists on a trip to Venus. You are not seeing the point, but wanting to take him literally when he is driving a point you miss. Not unusual for you Maggie.

Creation science is Dominionist politics, pure and simple.

Suggesting labor camps for evolutionists, and mandatory placards for them to wear is more politics, dangerous politics.

It appeals to the worst in human nature.

Is that Christian?

Maggie, your cartoon, it could be a science book and the father saying the same thing. Creationist Scientist may as well have been sent to Mars, because they have no part in the discussion. It is satire, not literal, understand, Mayb not.

Whine to Ryan, go ahead.

Is is blatant exclusivism for voodoo and witch doctors to be banned from the American Medical Association; it is discrimination not to allow self-appointed "shrinks" from participating equally with the psychiatrists and psychologists on an equal footing; it is discrimination to prevent grade-school dropouts from admission to Harvard and M.I.T.

Re: Give us this day our daily link-ette

Just picked up the latest Time magazine in the mail and am reading the lead article: "How Faith Can Heal."

As shown by the Blue Zone study on longevity and health, an optimistic attitude is the best predictor of good health and longevity. Those who attend church regularly and believe in prayer obviously have an optimistic attitude, else why pray if not hoping for something better?

When the levels of stress hormone--cortisol--go down, the immune system improves. (Which is why, on my NP's suggestion, I regularly take adrenal hormones and have experienced amazing results).

But the statement of the professor of behavioral medicine at Columbia University, and author of "Blind Faith: The Unholy Alliance of Religion and Medicine says:

"Science doesn't deal in supernatural explanations; religion and science address different concerns."

Something to remember when Creationism is discussed.

Thought we were talking human origins. Let's not get too silly and off in the tall grass. If we are going to have a discussion about Origins, then Creationism deserves a part in it.

The rest is bullying by Elaine and Neal. Not appropriate.

Bob, who are you to label what is "inappropriate"? Has Ryan given you the job of making such important decisions? If not, and I don't recall that he has, cease and desist, or else you will continue to be ignored with your pronouncements of what is "inappropriate."

Re: Give us this day our daily link-ette

Threats and intimidation, Elaine, continual bickering that Ryan has implied you in. Why not stop it, yourself. Neal has already supplied is own email copy from JR as encouraging dissent. Creation and Evolution are a current topic with Hank Handegraaf and how it is effect the current church and science community. Tough talk from a mature lady and an athiest . Give it up, both of you. Neither you nor I are moderators, but you and Neal should know better, and you both don't even mask it. I been round the block with JR on the bullying, close with you.

Re: Give us this day our daily link-ette

Bob

Are you a Dominionist? Isn't Hank Hanegraaf a disciple of the late James Kennedy (or is he still alive?)

You remind me of a guy I once knew. Got kicked out of every school and then moped around crying and complaining how everybody did bad things to him.

Debunking your cut-n-paste sources, making derisive comments on your tendency to set yourself up as an authority concerning a deity when you have failed to even complete a single reading the sacred texts, being the squeaky wheel on the one forum you are still allowed to log onto (after being thrown off it multiple times), and threatening the wrath of your god on others, is hardly the credible background needed to assert authority and claim that I or your elder Elaine are somehow threatening and intimidating you.

Elaine received her Masters degree in her 80's. You haven't even read the Bible. Now you are complaining about HER conclusions?

My personal opinion is that you have become irrelevant and are attempting to compensate by repeating discredited opinions ad nauseum in an increasingly loud tone.

Re: Give us this day our daily link-ette

Neal, Hank is no Dominionist. D. James Kennedy may have been, but I only believe decision that work best ought to be made in civil matters, not made according to the way they were with the Early Church. If I was I would be in favor of mandating a Worship Day, which I am not.

Nealas an atheist, you are one to talk about the rest of your post. This would discredit you from most discussions on things of a spiritual nature.

I do not look to you, Elaine or this forum or others I post on, as my last hope, ot the center of my life, you may, but that is your issue.

Thanks for your critique, and for letting us know how you came back a JR's beck and call for mischief. That sounds like the old boy I tangeled with about bullying at one time.

Personally, I don't care who I remind you of.
