Drop off in the Pacific the next earthquake!! naw.... but everything left of Saint Andrews Fault is slowly moving north.... in a very long time, Daly City will grind into and block San Francisco Bay as it crashes into the marin headlands.... but what is your comment on a lady pastor for LSU? doesn't that contravene direct commands fromGod relayed thru Paul? as claimed by paul?

John, if we obeyed all the instructions or recommendations made in the Bible, we would be so backward that no one would be left except the few who were mere robots who love to follow a leader, no questions asked. John, you and I are no longer official members (right?), and that is only one reason I am ashamed to be a member of SDA. Not treating women equally is very galling to me who was a feminist before that was a word.

As far as I see in the Pauline corpus (the epistles accepted as authentic, not the pseudoepigraphs), Paul wouldn't mind at all. He even mentions female apostles after all!

Hey John. We don't stone someone to death for carrying wood on the sabbath. We pretty much reject the theory that the earth is flat. Thank goodness we don't take the Bible word for word. We'd be in a lot of trouble if we did. I'm sure that is the point you are trying to make. I'm with Elaine. I was a strong proponent of ordination of women way back. It makes me angry the way the church has stalled on the issue. It's obscene!! I've got a couple of things to say to good old Paul when I get a chance to talk with him.

Irene....go check out the thread at Spectrum about the book of Numbers..... <a href="http://www.spectrummagazine.org/articles/sabbath_school/2009/09/28/numbers%E2%80%94_introduction" target=_top>http://www.spectrummagazine.org/articles/sabbath_school/2009/09/28/numbers%E2%80%94_introduction</a> somebody else started it, but I was intrigued, and continued the exploration.... and so far, it seems that Numbers continued and enforced the repression of women which may have started with Gods curse to make childbirth painful...presuming one believes that story literally.... in reality, the ancient mistaken belief that a man's semen contained "seeds", and the only reason for a woman was to cook, clean, and be an "oven" for those seeds.....may have been the beginning or the repression. and any woman would do to incubate a mans seed...even a slave girl (Haggar), or virgins from a defeated enemy... with the ancients not understanding how the females would be providing half the genetics, which would dilute their family bloodline's "uniqueness". good news? today.... "you've come a long way, Baby".... and now women can do almost anything men can do and it's never too late for you to get started!!! <img src="http://www.atomorrow.net/discus/messages/6/2052.jpg" alt="">
